How often??

I live in Washington State where a permit isnt required for OC. But in the times I have been pulled over and my gun was visible not once was I ever asked for the permit. And never walking down the street. Its been 10 years living here.

Never been asked, I dont do it often, once I did get out of the car in wa. Went in Starbucks and they gave me my coffee free. Was dressed nice with a tie. They must of thought I was a detective?

Or that was Starbucks Open Carry recognition day. I posted in another thread about how a local Starbucks to me is only a couple hundred yards from the City Hall and is the hang-out for many Police and Municipal Court folks. That one day educated a good many of them as prior to that I had even been questioned by a City Police Officer while in my own yard where my carry permit was. I asked him to cite where I needed a carry permit to carry openly and I cited the Law/Statute (RCW here in Washington) that allowed me to even carry concealed on my own property without a permit. He found the cite I gave in his little pocket guide and decided since I was right with that, it wasn't worth looking deeper so he simply left.

In OHIO, Open Carry is legal with no permit. I was standing on my own property and a State Patrolman came up on foot from across the road to ask me about a call for a horse near the road.. He noticed my firearm, put his hand on his own firearm, and he asked me if I was armed (DUH!!!) I answered yes, then he gruffly asked if I had a permit for it, I answered back "dont need one" and he paused for a few seconds, and then changed the subject.... Never mentioned the firearm or touched his own the rest of the time we talked.

Excuse me, but I think the original posters intent with this thread was to point out how many LEO or other citizens show their lack of knowledge for asking to see a permit where none is required? In fact, I've seen the youtube videos of just that. I think the OP is trying to see how many of you have been subjected to this lack of knowledge. But maybe I'm wrong . . .

I was OC'ing at the local BUCKS with a plethora of police gathered for some good Java at outside tables. I was wearing my weapon of choice, a Springfield .45 MIL-SPEC, holstered at 3 o'clock. Walked in past them to purchase, walked past them to return to my truck. NO mention, comments or rude remarks from anyone. JUST a another beautiful day in paradise while I exercise my rights in NC. Gotta Lov some of these NC Laws!!!
