I am looking at possibly purchasing through a private sale a 3rd Gen Glock G19. Gun is used and asking price is $650 or bo. Is that a good price when I can get a new Ruger SR9 for $500 ?

Your selling or buying? 650 is way over prices especially for a gen 3 a new gen 4 is only around 545 around here

Thinking about buying. I thought that was to much. He says flawless condition, but a NEW Ruger for $150 less, means a holster and accessories.

New G-19 gen 4 with a warranty is $425 to $550. I might go as high as $350 but I would try for less. I just saw a used G-19 for $350 at gun shop web site for $350 and I would expect to pay less in a private sale. Some people are either looking for a sucker or have inflated ideas as to the value of their possessions. Make an offer or shop around.

Some people are told that guns hold their value, or worse they are told that guns are a good investment and increase in value. This can be true if you have a rare gun. A used Glock is more like a twenty year old Chevy pick up. There are tons of them around, they are still making them, and there are plenty of other options. Too many people think their used pistol is the '57 Chevy of the gun world. If you want a gun that will keep it's value buy a used gun.

Here is an informative article on buying used guns.

Yes that seems a bit steep for a used gen 3, even if it had a lot of mods done to it, unless it came with lots of accessories and a thousand rounds of ammo! Cruze the gun shops to get an idea on pricing, and definitely, definitely get a Glock!

Thanks everyone. I had a feeling it was overpriced. :D He was trying to tell me that I couldnt even get this gun anymore, and it only comes with 2 ten round and 1 fifteen round magazines. By the sound of the e-mail I recieved I dont think the price will drop enough for me to purchase it.

The gen 3s are still being produced good thing you asked the forum I would of been sad for you if you purchased it for that price lol. Happy hunting just take your time look around

I paid $450 for my gen 3 G19 brand new with the installation of night sights it was $550 total. $600 is way over priced.

My lightly used Gen 4 with night sights and a $125 trigger upgrade only cost me $600 so yeah you can certainly find a better deal out there.
The Glock 19 is however a great carry gun.

I just purchased a G19 Gen 4 less than 200 rnds fired with 3 mags, extended slide release, ghost trigger 3.5 lbs, laser sight and holster all for $500.

This guy must be looking for a sucker by asking that much for a gen 3....I would never buy sight unseen anyway...Go buy a new one and know what you are getting then.....
