US Army First Lt. Lorance is serving 20 years in Leavenworth for ordering his troops to fire on three men approaching his position on motorcycles, saying he violated the ROE in place at the time, that the men were unarmed; 2 of the 3 were killed. There is now evidence that the Army WITHHELD evidence during his court martial, just as they did during the Michael Behenna court martial (he was eventually set free), that the three men had ties to terrorists, and were possibly scouts for a larger enemy force.
The government is setting the enemies - active combatants, all - of our country free while imprisoning a soldier who acted to keep the men of his platoon safe. And locking Lt. Lorance in the same facility with terrorist Nidal Hasan.
While I am not a fan of petitions - I think they were set up by the government as a way for people to blow off steam without the government actually doing anything substantial to address the concerns - I think this one is worth signing to let Obama know that we stand behind our military personnel and their families.
