You forgot the word "legitimate". There is a reason to have to pay the 200.00 tax - it's a tax - that's the only reason the government cares about.

This one BATFE doesn't really have a say in, as far as the tax goes. That's law, as opposed to their recent attempt to reinterpret law regarding the M855 ammo.

They do have say in how they do the background check and required paperwork - that's what they to do discourage people. They could just take your money and give you the stamp, easy peasy. Yeah, like that'll happen any time soon.

To get the tax eliminated, gotta get the congresscritters to repeal the law.
