My Springfield xd subcompact 9mm has been my go to for several years now, with a 13+1 flush mag and a 16+1 extended mag.

I have several. Size and round count is important. But for me, reliability is by far the most important feature in a personal protection gun. After testing several, glock wins hands down. It's the only gun that had fired 100% without any issues dirty or clean. It has to do with a design that leaves room for different ammo without the extremely tight tolerances in the smaller guns.

Best holster is a personal thing. I carry a S&W 438 Air Weight in as Garrett Industry Silent Thunder. It is a IWB made for the this model, it's outer shell is Kydex with the inside lined with leather, it also has a adjustable cant J-hook. I am very happy with it. I paid around $90.00 for it. Very well made. They are excellent todo business with. Hope this helps.
