Do New York gun owners have enough patriots to vote the anti-gunners out?

I actually think that one of the best strategies is to take an anti-gun friend or acquaintance to the range for some shooting experience. One on one. Even gun haters have a smile on their face when shooting for the first time. That opens their eyes to a more serious discussion. Otherwise, they tend to be too closed minded to even consider the logical Constitutional arguments or the facts about the expected results of gun controls..

They have already thought of that in NY and made it illegal for an adult to touch a handgun unless it is registered to him or her. You can't register a handgun unless you have a license to carry.
Gun owners could make a difference but it won't be easy in a socialized state. State Employees Unions are very strong here. Many gun owners would have to vote against the candidates that their unions are telling them to vote for.

As to the question in the OP
The latest estimate is 6,000,000 gun owners in NY
and
15,100,000 eligible voters in New York
4,770,000 votes were in last election. Cuomo won by 1,052,011 votes.
1,200,000 MORE gun owners than voters.

Yes the gun owners could make a difference if they got angry about what is happening and got involved.
We also have to make other understand that the battle that NY Gun owners are fighting right now is not about guns.
The Liberal Progressive Movement in NY is out of control and is usurping the God Given Constitutional rights of NY Citizens.
The enemy is this so called "progressivism" not guns, but who can be against progress right?

A look at the Resolutions (to repeal the recent SAFE Act) Map is somewhat of an indicator of the demographics of New York State.

New York State has a population of approx. 19 million people. Almost 11 million of these 19 million live in and around the immediate New York City area (the white area on the map). About 56% of the population living in less than 3% of the state land. They control the vote. Bulk of the voters in that area are Democrat. These are largely very liberal people and needless to say that makes a very big anti-gun bunch.

The remainder of the state is around 8 million people. That leaves something like 44% of the population living in 97% of the state's land mass. These folks are primarily Republican voters and most are pro RKBA. I guess it comes down to the folks living in the green area of the map mustering the voting power to control the largest city in America, which controls the state, the capital (Albany), and the presidential electoral vote.

Now time for a little rant. Most of us living on the "green" side of the "Constitutional Divide" feel as if New York City might as well be another planet. You often hear the phrase "I wish it would secede and form it's own state". There's a reason that more than 1.6 million New Yorkers moved out of state between 2000 and 2010. The latest US Census, showed that for the second consecutive decade, New York was the country’s favorite place to leave. This exodus has taken $97 billion in adjusted gross income. Much of that money is now enriching Florida (which is the leading destination for fleeing New York taxpayers). BTW, NYS's two largest employers are the government and teachers, both of which are paid for by the taxpayer ...... not a very pretty picture.

Thanks for the map. I've read where BC1 has talked about the population ratio of NYS to NYC but this puts it in a real light that makes it easier to understand.

You're welcome. It's almost hard to believe that such a thing could happen when you look at it graphically. I have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and one of the most frustrating things for me is that as soon as you say you're from New York, everyone thinks New York City. It's really hard to put into words just what the heck the story is around these parts. And it's also pretty darn frustrating for those folks living on the "green side" of the "Constitutional Divide". The green side is mostly farmland, mountains, lakes, and wilderness. It's a mecca for big and small game hunting, camping, hiking, fishing, skiing, you name it. I've lived in the Southern-tier area of Western New York State for 60 something years, and it's hard to believe where we're at right now compared to what it was like in my younger days. I mean things like when I was 14, I used to ride down to the hardware store with my .22 rifle strapped to my bicycle rack to buy a box of ammo and then off to the woods. Now that seems like I was dreaming ......

I understand, there are a lot of misconceptions about what the rural areas of many states look like. Once you get 75 miles out from NYC it's very pretty countryside. It's like when people would first come to Texas. Everybody wanted to know where the horses and tumbleweeds went!

I feel your pain. But if you look at the election results of 2012 most states are in the same pickle. ACORN got billions of tax dollars to organize, infiltrate election commissions, and hand out cigarettes to the homeless. All we have is the NRA.
The picture of this map demonstrates that the mega cities are now calling the shots. As long as the rural gun owners continue to believe the spin that "NOBODY IS GONNA TAKE YOUR GUNS" they will continue to call the shots.

Hopefully the recent incidents in New York will wake up these people and they will finally realize that who ever is telling you "NOBODY IS GONNA TAKE YOUR GUNS" they are lying to you.

The idiot that is governor here made a statement this week that the things his administration will be remembered for, and the "accomplishments" he is proudest of, are gay marriage, and gun control. Add-in a few other liberal cities like Albany and it's about even. So despite upstate being predominantly republican, there's enough transplants in upstate NY to sway the vote. Upstate NY residents are disenfranchised. Their vote has zero affect on state and national elections.

I recently saw a post on a pro-2a forum which made an interesting point and suggested a way to take back our state government from the LIB's. We conservatives need to infiltrate (en mass) by changing registration to Democrat.....vote for the most conservative candidates in the Democratic primaries.....then in the privacy of the voting booth ....in the general election we vote for "our" Conservative non-liberal....non-democrat... candidates!!! The Democrat party, nor the Election commission can do anything to prevent you from voting in their primary....as long as you are a "registered" Democrat. Although most Democrats don't know this....even though you're registered as a Democrat, you don't HAVE TO vote for a Democrat in the General election.

WE HAVE THE POWER TO TAKE BACK THE STATE AT THE VOTING BOOTH!

Add Buffalo and the City of Rochester to that list. The liberals have a "sure fire" method to get out the vote.... all they have to say is "They want to take away your benefits...make you get a job).. (aka...make you take some responsibility for your own life)....then they send buses into the neighborhoods and/or pass out cigarettes at polling sites(outside of the distance limits of course) to get "their" voters to the polls.
