The lost or change of address charges equal the exact amount of what a five-year renewal would cost us here in Bama.

That said, I don't think the $150 is all that exorbitant compared to other blue states, and even some red states. We were thinking about moving up the road a piece to Southern Tennessee and looked into what it would cost to get us both permission-slipped up there. Turned out with the training requirements and the licensing fees it would be between $400 and $500 for both of us. That would only be for the first time, and then the renewal fees actually worked out a little bit cheaper than here, but it would take us probably more time than we have left on this Earth to make the renewal fees make up for the initial costs. We are sticking with Bama in part for that reason.

You gotta understand Charles, your state is the only one in the Union that has zero costs associated with exercising our rights under the 2nd Amendment. There are a couple or three others where you can OC without any statutory costs involved (AZ, AK - any others?), and I think AZ allows CC without a permission slip too, but both AZ and AK have permission slips available (for a cost), mostly so that their reciprocity agreements with other states will be honored, which are contingent on even having a permission slip system to reciprocate on. If I'm not mistaken, Vermont is the only state in which you couldn't spend money for the "right" to carry even if you wanted to. There's no permitting system in place to spend money on.

I don't spend a lot of time researching what other states' permits cost, but just from running into that info from time to time, IL's charges seem fairly light to me, considering that they're coming out of a nearly total ban on carrying at all. I'm kind of surprised the State Legislature didn't try to squeeze a couple or three more pounds of flesh out of gun owners there.

New Hampshire is an OC state without a permit. I just can't keep it on me while in the car.
I will at some point pay the "rental fee" for my 2nd in another state, just not right now.
Yes. Vermont has no system in place nor any fee required to carry OC or CC.
Burlington is attempting to change that for their town but our Constitution won't allow for it.
Those are the libtards from NY and Ma that come up here and shyt themselves because of our lax carry laws...
A lot if those tools will find themselves on the outside looking in very soon though.

OC is lawful in North Carolina, except for certain locations (i.e.: schools, places where alcohol is both sold & served, etc.), no paperwork or permitting fees required... Vehicle carry is not an issue....
