A proper SD tool does not have to cost several thousand dollars. But there's nothing wrong with getting one that does, either, as long as it works for you.
Is it just me or am I missing something on the 357mag? Personally, I would have a problem packing a weapon that once fired, the bullet continues not only thru a wall, but on down the city block...if, and only IF I ever have to draw down on a BG, I only want to stop that BG, not just the BG and the Ford F-150 driving by..I think we can all agree that the 357mag is one heck of a powerfull round!

Here in NJ hollowpoints are verboten. In this situation, and to address the interesting physical characteristics of hollowpoints (clogging, failure to expand, etc.), you might want to take a second look, at these...I wouldn't dream of loading any of my guns for SD with FMJ for that reason.
I carry a Glock Model 30 (.45ACP) and a Glock Model 39 (.45GAP).
Both are great CCW pistols.
