Clemson Campus Carry

Does anyone know the boundaries of the Clemson University campus or at least can provide me a source to the information? Carrying a weapon on you is prohibited on public university property and I have no way of determining what property is owned by Clemson. I'm not even sure if driving on the roads around campus is legal.

All that I could find in SC code of laws is that Clemson was given all land in a five mile radius around Tillman Hall, but that was a long time ago and its been chopped up into many pieces now. It's ridiculous I have to play a game of chance when carrying around university property, as it seems they offer no map of what the bounds of campus are.

The only other option available is to leave the firearm in the car, which I'm rather not fond of.

You don't have to worry about all Clemson owned property. Only what is considered "Campus". Anything on the opposite side of 93 should be good. I would consider perimeter rd to be a border as well with the exception of the baseball field.

Legally, you do have to worry about all Clemson University owned/leased property. As Shax mentioned, it is illegal to carry on a university campus/property (both public and private), regardless of where it is located. This includes isolated pieces of donated property located out in the middle of nowhere. There are provisions for a CWP holder to have a weapon locked in their car while on campus.

It is my understanding that unless it is considered a CAMPUS, then you can carry. Issaqueena bike trails, for example, is Clemson experimental forest. I have been told by law enforcement that you can carry on that property.

That may be but South Carolina Code of Laws, Title 16, Chapter 23, Section 16-23-420 states:

(A) It is unlawful for a person to possess a firearm of any kind on any premises or property owned, operated, or controlled by a private or public school, college, university, technical college, other post-secondary institution, or in any publicly owned building, without the express permission of the authorities in charge of the premises or property. The provisions of this subsection related to any premises or property owned, operated, or controlled by a private or public school, college, university, technical college, or other post-secondary institution, do not apply to a person who is authorized to carry a concealed weapon pursuant to Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23 when the weapon remains inside an attended or locked motor vehicle and is secured in a closed glove compartment, closed console, closed trunk, or in a closed container secured by an integral fastener and transported in the luggage compartment of the vehicle.

(C) A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

(E) For purposes of this section, the terms "premises" and "property" do not include state or locally owned or maintained roads, streets, or rights-of-way of them, running through or adjacent to premises or property owned, operated, or controlled by a private or public school, college, university, technical college, or other post-secondary institution, which are open full time to public vehicular traffic.
