Lawyers are going to try their best to make whatever party they are representing an angel but a judge and the jury's job is to hear both sides of the "story" and take the evidence into consideration and make a decision on who is guilty and who isn't. Verdict just came in. Inquest jury found shooting was justified. It took about an hour or so to decide that. On to the civil lawsuit...

30 years ago if officers of a major metropolitan police department killed a West Point Graduate by shooting him no less than 3 times in the back, they would have faced immediate suspension, and been brought up on criminal charges. It would have been an outrage that would have received network news coverage for days if not weeks. Today it is not only found to be "justified", but applauded as a sort of morbid victory by those who support such cowardice.

Now the only recourse this mans family has left is to hope to regain some justice by law suit. A process that this department will drag out longer than they did this convoluted affair. I'm just glad I don't live under their jurisdiction, and pity those who do. Bill T.

So what is your point. That we should only take West Point Graduates for cops. What about all of the F@ck up West Point Graduates that were Officers during Vietnam and couldn't lead their men out of a wet paper bag? Or led their men into a death hole while his men told him he was screwing up? Being a West Point Graduate wasn't really a big determinating factor then, was it?
You are talking about people. Not robots with computer driven capability. So you are insinuating that all cops have pot belly's and double chins? So you are assuming that all cops went onto the force that way. None of you ever gained weight? Or aged? Or changed in life? How about posting a picture of a fat West Point graduate who's been out of school for a decade or two, and a very physically fit cop? It's easy to propagandize people with your bullsh*t when you make your post lean to your way of thinking.
Personally, I would love to see them take nothing but West Point Graduates as cops. There would be maybe 8 or 9 of them on the street, with 5000 or so at administrative desk jobs and working on their political ambitions and writing papers on the theory of community Policing. That way the people would be left to fend strictly for themselves on the roadway and in the neighborhoods. I'd love to see it. In fact, it would be down right hilarious, this day in age.
That is unless you are billt, then every cop should be a Wal-Mart greeter who walks around the neighborhood unarmed and shakes hands, but doesn't enforce any laws, unless they effect him and his family. It finally comes out as found in the courts that the officers were cleared. But why should that matter to billt? After all, a jury of your peers doesn't matter when billt thinks otherwise. I say let's just get a rope and hang'em. F@ck the courts and the jury's and the legality. If billt disagrees with it, it's law. He can say things like they shot him 3 times in the back, as if stating fact, without knowing the curcumstances or how the shooting went down, angles, movement, etc. Like I said. F@ck it, billt disagrees. So the jury and the legal system can just take a flyin' leap off of a cliff.

30 years ago, if a druggie drew a gun on a cop, the cop shot him and that ended the story. Unfortunately, today, the family of the man who drew the gun still has a pretty good chance at a civil trial and big $.
