We have 2000 dollar ars and hi point carbines in both 40 and 9mm. The high point is a hoot to shoot. Put a cheap red dot on it and you will put magazine loads in a paper plate at 100 yards...just like my 17 year old daughter can do. Because of its size it will make a great home defense weapon and because of the calibers you don't need to worry about putting a round through a home invader a dog the wall of the house and into the neighbors home. A lot of fun for less than 400 bucks.

Both a 9mm and a .40 will go through your interior and exterior walls, and the exterior and interior walls of your neighbor's house down the block with no problems unless you load frangible rounds... Granted they won't carry as far as a rifle but I don't really see this as an advantage, if you're shooting in a neighborhood there is always a risk, I'd rather focus on the more immediate risk of the badguy in front of me.

I would like to add my value judgment to the issue of home defense. Why not a .12 gauge or .20 gauge? The three-inch magnums in 000-00 or # 4 is quite impressive. As far as wall penetration in an area of close neighbors, I would be very careful with anything center or rim fire. The thickest wall of a house is nothing if the round passes thru a glass window. Lots of thought should be given to every situation not just hoot to shoot.

I do not know much about low to hight end shotguns but a single or double for S.D. should be fine, I would not think a weekly 100 rounds but I do not know. Why not?

How about a .22 LR thru sheet rock? After much thought I would really think about sheet rock v. slump block or brick, Safer to call 911 if you are that worried about neighbors, unless you live on a scorpion ranch as I do and the next door is a few hundred yards.

I would guess that is the major drawing force for this type of forum under a miscellaneous or other setting of a nonspecific nature that is other than hard-core CCW facts and maybe a little fiction to all be taken in the spirit given. I like it although I am sure I am blocked from some folks view. I do hope we are all together in our dedication to self-defense and the Second Amendment. Other than the occasional mole or Big Bro sneak.
