Bill would allow concealed weapons across state lines.

You know, when the first national carry bill was being considered, I understood when my Rep. said he couldn't support it because it trampled on States' rights. But as I think about it, as much as I know that the Founders intended for the US to be a republic of sovereign states, each with laws that met the needs of each idividual State, I also don't believe the Founders intended that those laws would be so divergent that a citizen of one state would find himself in jail in another state for exercising a right protected by the Constitution, especially for something so out of their control as an aircraft that is redirected to an anti-gun state as has happened a couple of times now. This is, in my view, a corrective measure, not an instance of the fed "giving" us a right, as some have said, but an instance of the fed actually acting to reaffirm that right.

I sent an email to my Delaware US Senator asking him to support the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, and received this stereotypical Liberal Democrat response. Remember, he is on the Senate Judicial Committee along with Texas Sen. Cornyn that wrote the bill.
This is his "response":

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on gun control with me. I have been deeply saddened by the recent and continued instances of gun violence throughout Delaware and our country.

I agree that the right to bear firearms, protected by the Second Amendment, is a fundamental freedom. In the wake of countless unimaginable tragedies, however, we are reminded that no freedom is absolute. I am carefully considering a range of options to address gun violence that include strengthening mental health care, enforcing existing laws, improving gun safety, and exploring ways to improve our system of background checks to ensure that violent criminals and those with mental illness cannot harm their fellow Americans. With all legislation that comes before the Senate, I will be certain to closely weigh the public safety interests of society with the civil liberties and freedoms afforded to all citizens.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I am honored to represent Delaware in the United States Senate and truly value hearing from Delawareans on issues of concern. My website, Link Removed, can provide additional details about my work in the Senate, including legislation and state projects. I value your input and hope you will continue to keep me informed of the issues that matter to you.

Sincerely,
Christopher A. Coons
United States Senator

The first few sentences sounds good, but it goes downhill after that. This shall be remembered if he ever runs again, unless He does a turnabout when the Committee votes on the bill.

After reading that letter from Senator Coons, and especially the paragraph I put in bold for emphasis, can anyone have any doubt as to what those in the Federal government would do with any Federal legislation involving concealed carry reciprocity?

Anybody who states "I support the 2nd Amendment, but....." doesn't.
