Anyone have plans to visit N.J. w/ a firearm ?

Doing a living history event in NJ twenty odd years ago, we were told to remove the locks from our muskets while traveling through the state. I generally find an alternate route when travelling south now.

That was 20 years ago, since then the gun law has become so severe under the GRAVES ACT that it is now a 5 year mandatory sentence. It is a ridiculous law, and a burden
to every law abiding citizen.

I was living there for 6 months as my wife has a good paying job there. I wante to bring mine, but as I looked up the laws in Jersey I said no
! If you want to bring it good luck, I left mine at home locked up! Now that I am back I always carry! God bless NE and all states that alow carry and self protection.

You want to hear a good one? A disabled retired police officer from this State was arrested for violating one of the many new gun laws recently passed. I don't have all the facts
as of yet, but do know he was unaware of, or forgot one of the new gun laws, "remember the guy is disabled" and is now serving a 5 year mandatory sentence.

This is a man who served the State as a police officer, was involved in a accident leaving him semi crippled while on duty, and was subsequently retired with near 15 years on the job.
I further understand he held a permit to carry as a retired police officer, I don't know what new law he broke, but it gives you a good idea how ridicules these laws are.
A retired police officer, with a permit to carry, and no prior criminal record is now in jail.

Yea, that is crazy. I just moved to NJ with my wife and I have a CCW from NE. I left my guns with a close friend in NE!

you can bring your guns to NJ, you just cannot carry them

Hello, my wife got a good paying job in Tom's River so we moved from NE (I have a CHP from there) to NJ, I also left all my guns locked up back in NE. I emailed NE State Police in Lincoln, the email they sent back said when you get a NJ DL I need to send the permit back to them. So I decided to get a non resident TX or AZ permit. I also will need a NJ FID card. Yes Nj sucks (sorry) most of the people I have met are good people, the government is misguided though.

I have to travel (drive) to NJ on business this week for one day, otherwise I would never set foot there. Needless to say I won't risk a prison sentence by traveling armed.

Anyone have plans to visit N.J. w/ a firearm ?....NOPE!

I live right over the border in PA and NJ has several sweet indoor and outdoor ranges near by, BUT, I never use them since the NJ LEO's are pretty much idiots. I've never heard anything good from an encounter. I keep my business in PA because of it.

What's crazier is he is/was allowed to carry in NJ and most of the nation is not. Hmmm, can anyone say special laws for the governmentally funded agents and other laws for the subjects of the land?

It sucks here. As much as I want people to come visit the beautiful, more rural parts of the state, or even walk the shops of Cape May, so they realize that it really is a beautiful state, but I can't. I urge you not to come waste your hard earned, pro 2A money in our states economy. We have some of the top most dangerous cities in the country because of shitty gun laws. We have more corruption in our Senate presidents front pocket than that jackass from Illinois had in his whole state. I used to be in LE and have a lot of Leo friends but there are way more bad cops than goods ones here. If I could jump the creek and settle in PA, I'd be a happy man, and that's not even my first pick of where to go lol. It's just the closest and has great gun rights.

I visit family on a regular basis and I don't bother. It's just not worth the hassle. Plus you may run across a real LEO jerk
I have to make sure I don't have any hollow points in my pocket or laying on the floor of my car, Because if you get stopped and they find just one you're screwed.
What a bunch of candy asses.

Ya know why...the Leo's are scared crap less about going in to Trenton or other NJ haunts and actually rounding up the real bad guys. If they harass normal law abiding citizens they do not risk being harmed at all...real courage on that thin blue line.

What does that have to do with the screwed up gun laws in this State ? Go to a different post if you want to go on a tangent about your dumb reply.

I refuse also, problem is that I live here! All my firearms are back in Nebraska I don't want a felony on my record.
