advice on securing weapon in a vehicle

I need some suggestions. I recently bought a Dodge pickup, with the sliding window in the back. Since I cannot carry while I'm working, i need some suggestions on how to secure my weapon while I'm at work. It's a Ruger SR-9. I don't make a lot of money so cost IS an issue.

Thanks for the help.

Check out a "center of mass" safe. Google center of mass safe and you'll find the company. I think they're about $30.00, they have a thin cable that can be secured around the seat mount.

It's not the most secure, but it would certainly slow anyone down. Nothing will make it "theft proof" unless you're going to spend significantly more.

I too have a Gun Vault Nano biometric safe that is secured around my seat frame. I have a quad cab so I go in the back seat and secure my firearm and slide the safe under the seat. You can't even tell it's there. My safe was a little pricey but you can get the combo option for around $40 for the big one. Mine holds my Baretta PT99 no problem. Good luck

I bought a Kevlar key/combination box that bolts to the bed in my GMC Envoy for under $100 on eBay. It's also FAA approved, so it goes on plane as checked luggage. Sorry, I don't remember brand name, my 16-year old has the vehicle right now (but not my Ruger). I'll try to track down more info. I looked for weeks to find a secure, strong method of stashing my CCW for the times when Uncle Sam said "no guns in here."

I bought a safe from 4wheelparts.com made by smittybuilt. It's made for a jeep but I removed the drivers seat rear bolt and bolted it down and drilled a 5/8" hole for the other bolt. Safe faces to the rear with key lock.

Big enough for gun plus flashlight and spare mag. Around $50.

I've heard of guys removing the slide & magazine, taking them with them and leave the frame of the pistol in the glovebox or under the seat. Not ideal, but affordable?

"Center of mass" is the only company I could find that sold multiple keyed alike. I got 2. one for my car one for my wifes car. one key
