I understand this bill related to ammunition purchase but Governor Quinn re-wrote it to be an "assault" weapon ban. The changed bill went back to the state senate where Q's changes were rejected 49-to-4. It was supposed to go to the House---anything happen there yet?

Yes, the official webpage is Link Removed , you can see for yourself that the statutes quoted in this thread are the real thing. Note that vehicle carry is mentioned in 2 different statutes. I coudn't agree more. Why use one word when none will do?

OK, not really instant, but from the time I walked into my sheriff's office today about 20 minutes elapsed before I walked out with my renewed permit. Pretty good! Even better, Colorado permits are now recognized in Nebraska.

I heard the same; I think the map-application here is behind the times. Link Removed did recently change the map there to show that WV is no longer one of the "yellow" states. My FL permit now authorizes me to be safe in WV, but I have no reason to ever go there.
