Every religion hates those who don't see it the same way. The Muslims want to kill you for it. Just because we're all, "children of God", doesn't mean we're all one big happy family, filled with love and devotion. The amount of wars fought over religion proves that, if it proves anything.

I, and many others on this forum, do not want to kill anyone who does not believe the way I do. As I have already stated, we were given free will. Everyone is free to believe WHATEVER they want. If you want to believe that your ancestors was some slime that washed up on a rock, that is fine with me. I must apologize for mistakenly stepping on your ancestor and cleaning him off my shoe and throwing him in the trash!

What I really do not understand is how people who do not believe in God are so rabid in their attack on Christians. They demand that all crosses and other Christian religious symbols not to be displayed. I do wish they would do the same to the mooslums and other religions!

IMHO they KNOW they would be targeted by those believers! But Christians and Jews are a soft and safe target!!!!!

Why don't you understand it? They're no more rabid in their attacks than the Christians themselves are. There are rude, childish, unreasonable people of all beliefs. Case in point, rabid attacks from Christians:

An awful state of degenerates, atheists partake of the same principles and propensities which characterize the very nature and essence of their father the devil.The reason for an atheists resistance and rage is because God's word is truth, and the truth terrifies them. An atheist's only hope is that there is no afterlife, their greatest fear is that there is. When confronted with any debate an atheist is only able to issue negative commentary because, once again, the hatred of an atheist gets in the way of any common sense. Please show me where it says anything in the title of this thread about religion. Show me where it says that this thread or this forum is for christians only. Show me where it says that non-christians cannot have an opinion about religion, or that they can't express their opinions.

I have been polite and respectful. I have not belittled your beliefs, even though I disagree with them.

I can discuss god, guns, or gravy if I want to. That's my right. If you attempt to silence those voices who disagree with you, then you're no better than those liberals who do the same thing.

Salvation in Islam isn't by faith it's by strict adherence to the rules so if you can force someone into strict enough adherence you gain a convert

Salt: I think I can safely say that most Christians would like to be left alone also to enjoy their religious beliefs. I do not hate people who profess to be atheists but, as well as an atheist, I do get upset with all the unnecessary name calling and insulting names for our God. There are many on here that do enjoy discussions about religion as much as about guns, etc. When some mention is made of religion, the sniping starts which then leads to more disagreement, which then leads to all out verbal brawls. There are a couple on here who are adamant in their atheist views and they, like me, will not changes their views but we can at least get along amiably. No need to be deliberately obnoxious. Maybe a little jab in jest on occasion but nothing truly obnoxious. I have no intention of "bombarding" anyone with religious symbols but, if you will take note, they are all over our Federal buildings and indicate a past in which there was more religious belief and tolerance. The intolerance has become rampant with the decline of religion and the promotion of immorality in the country. It would seem that those who are intolerant of religious symbols are energized towards their removal by their perceived power with the decline of religion. As you say, we all would rather be left alone in our belief, or unbelief, but pushing by either side will result in more disagreement and hostility which should be unnecessary.. I believe in God and have no intention of changing. If you don't believe in God, I would imagine you also have no intention of changing so we really have no need to be arguing among ourselves. As long as no one insults my religion, I will have no reason to take umbrage and respond in kind. An easy solution but I can almost guarantee you that it will never happen.

Incorrect. There are no rules that say they must strap a bomb on themselves and murder innocent people. They do this by faith in that by doing so they are guaranteed salvation. They're faith is in their teaching, not rules.

My ancestors are no different than your, or anyone else's ancestors. As is the fact none of us can prove where they came from.

It is really not a stretch at all. I have rebuilt over a 100 machines for Federal Cartridge and know there can be a hundred different reasons why a round will not fire and that does not take in all the reasons why the gun could fail! Granted, the modern manufacturing methods are very good. But anything made by man can and WILL fail!!! My point is very simple. Nobody knows if the gun and the ammo will preform as it was designed until after the trigger is pulled! You have made my point that you BELIEVE and have FAITH that the gun AND the round will preform as intended! I also believe and have the same faith too!

Yes, every creation of man is fallible.

However it should be noted that the evidence that guns and ammo works as designed 99.9999% of the time that there is an extremely high probability that the gun will NOT fail the next time the trigger is pulled. It is a tested and proven technology.

The bible god is also a creation of man, and is totally unproven and since it hasn't been proven reliable the first time, the probability of it being god will fail the next time it is relied upon. Untested and unproven.

Fear is a very strong emotion, and probably one of the hardest to overcome. That's why much of religion is based on consequences.

If you see a logical debate and pointing out the flaws in your beliefs and supporting logic a ridicule, then you have some issues, not me.

Nor is this a believer only thread, it is open to anyone that wishes to participate. There are plenty of forums that very very ridged in enforcing censorship to silence anyone with different views. Perhaps you should find one of those forums.

And why do I express my views? Because religions are the greatest threat to mankind's future that exists. I know that nothing any atheist says will every cause a believe to become a non-believer, but it just might make the believer question their beliefs, the first step in becoming a non-believer. Many atheist, including preachers have taken this path because the stopped swallowing what they were told, and started to question what they were told.

I agree with OG on this. Just as atheists want to be free to express their views, so do Christians.

I'm the type of person who enjoys a healthy, polite debate. No name calling, no insults. You'll never hear me refer to the christian god as "sky daddy", as that is demeaning. Just because I don't believe, doesn't give me the right to be an ashhole about it.

If I may, let me use Ringo as an example. I have no doubt about his sincerity or the depth of his faith. I don't agree with him 90% of the time or more. What would I accomplish if I insulted his intelligence or sanity? Nothing constructive. The same is true of some of the atheists here. If I attacked THEM as well, the result would be counterproductive.

Debate the issue. Leave personality out of it.

Exactly. Without fear, most all religions would collapse, including Christianity. In that regard they are not much different than Islam or the Third Reich. The Crusades were also based on fear. "Do you believe?"....... No!......Off with his head!......How about you? Do you believe? Oh yeah!, I believe!" Same tune, different dance. If the evidence you have supporting what you believe is bad, bring on fear. Be it politics or religion, it all works the same on weak minds. 2,000+ years of results don't lie.
