And as usual, bad guys using ARs have the guns jam. While I can go out and fire off 500 rounds without a hiccup. Shepperd Smith did keep saying it jammed with less than 60 rounds fired.

Makes you wonder...some reports say 60 rounds were fired and only 2 people were killed...makes you wonder if the person had ever used a firearm before. No amount of regulation can stop someone who has a clean record and no history of violence or mental illness. Taking away guns though would only mean he would run around with a sharp pointed kitchen knife or make a bomb...and at least 2 people would still have died when he snapped.

Current reports say more like 20 rounds - and apparently he stole the AR from a friend.

why isn't there talk about eliminating violence on TV. all these crybabies in Hollywood saying that guns kill and need to be outlawed, while making movie after movie about killing. Local news is stating this was not a terrorist attack. Really? He takes a gun into a crowded shopping mall. Starts shooting at random targets and it's not terrorism? Sure sounds like it's terrorism.

Another mall that declared itself to be a carry free zone, if I understand things correctly. I don't believe that even their security guards are allowed to carry. Another business owner exercising his right to risk your life while taking your money.

Can't say I've ever seen any rent-a-cop mall guards carrying a sidearm in any mall in the 4 states I've lived in

You may not be far off. Elitists have always had a solution to a problem they need to create to get new laws enacted or create fear uncertainty and doubt until we "peons" cry out for something to be done. Maintain control through fear.

They were being responsible, law-abiding citizens and boycotting a business that refuses to uphold the safety of mankind in the highest degree by allowing all of their customers to be sheep for the wolves of the world to feast upon. Another wolf feasted and the armed citizens who were not allowed to be there remained safe in an area of Portland where they could protect themselves.

I'm appalled by businesses that do this and refuse to enter them. AutoZone recently went on my list of shops to boycott too.

This is exactly the reason why I have asked Michigan legislators to consider enacting what I have entitled The Hoven Self-Defense Act, named for a Michigan pharmacist who used his sidearm to drive off armed robbers in violation of Walgreen's non-escalation policy that prohibits employees from using firearms in the event of a robbery. In a nutshell, it states,

The right to carry a pistol for the defense of one’s self shall not be infringed by an employer, commercial or corporate entity, place of public accommodation, or education.

I know there are many business owners on these forums that absolutely hate it when I talk about this, and I am perfectly aware of the legal precedent that they have bought and paid for that continues to give them the right to deny us our right to defend ourselves. But if enough of us take this and run with it, we can overturn that legal precedent. It has been done in the past, and it can be done again today. The attitude of business owners that they are in business to make money, not to protect the rights of their employees and clients, is the exact same attitude that kept slavery alive for centuries. But people eventually banded together and overturned centuries of legal precedent in order to protect the rights of slaves. That's what has to happen now. Criminals are taking advantage of this attitude to rack up body counts, but the business owners continue to make money anyway.

Last I heard, it was illegal to commit a crime no matter what you were wearing, and no matter what state you're in. It always cracks me up when politicians pass a law making something illegal that was already illegal, sorta like double secret probation on Animal House. It's pointless.

Not quite pointless, as it increases the offenses (value added crime?) which strengthens the prosecution's case. But you're right, otherwise it seems its most effective reason is to make sheep feel more safe.

My absurd point was blunted since it has been revealed the perp was wearing a type of LBE, but the absurdity remains.

In West Virginia, the CCW law states that if the business is posted "no weapons" that you can still take the weapon in as long as it is concealed. It is a misdemeanor crime, however, and only chargeable after someone discovers you have a weapon and then refused to leave with it. There is no law broken by simply taking a weapon inside a business that prohibits them, because the signs don't hold the rule of law here. Am I right to assume the law is different in Oregon?

Now that more information has come out, this nut case stole the gun from a friend and then went ballistic. Stopping those kinds of attacks against the public requires the public be able to protect itself whenever and wherever. Laws restricting our carry must be changed in the name of better self defense and the politicians know this just can't get by the political correctness.
