LTC-A difference

A co-worker and I both have our Class A LTC's but while mine says "no restrictions", his says "Restrictions: personal protection and concealed carry". FWIW I got my permit in 2011 and he got his in 2009. Am I missing something or is there no difference and they just changed the verbiage??

This thread is pretty much useless without location.

Just like in a motorcycle forum, on occasion a person starts a thread to compare the cost of motorcycle insurance, without mentioning, location, age, and driving record.

I'm in Massachusetts.

My bike is a 1999 883-1200 Sportster and I pay $99/yr with Progressive. ;o)

Well thank you for the update. Here in PA, we don't have different classes of carry permits.

Ahhh so you like a bit of humor!

I raced a Harley today and after some really hard riding I managed to PASS the guy. I was riding on one of those really, really twisting sections of canyon road with no straight sections to speak of and where most of the curves have warning signs that say "15 MPH".

I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with those big-cubic-inch motors, it would have to be a place like this where handling and rider skill are more important than horsepower alone.

I saw the guy up ahead as I exited one of the turns and knew I could catch him, but it wouldn't be easy. I concentrated on my braking and cornering. three corners later, I was on his fender. Catching him was one thing; passing him would prove to be another.

Two corners later, I pulled up next to him as we sailed down the mountain. I think he was shocked to see me next to him, as I nearly got by him before he could recover. Next corner, same thing. I'd manage to pull up next to him as we started to enter the corners but when we came out he'd get on the throttle and outpower me. His horsepower was almost too much to overcome, but this only made me more determined than ever.

My only hope was to outbrake him. I held off squeezing the lever until the last instant. I kept my nerve while he lost his. In an instant I was by him. Corner after corner, I could hear the roar of his engine as he struggled to keep up. Three more miles to go before the road straightens out and he would pass me for good.

But now I was in the lead and he would no longer hold me back. I stretched out my lead and by the time we reached the bottom of the canyon, he was more than a full corner behind. I could no longer see him in my rear-view mirror.

Once the road did straighten out, it seemed like it took miles before he passed me, but it was probably just a few hundred yards. I was no match for that kind of horsepower, but it was done. In the tightest section of road, where bravery and skill count for more than horspower and deep pockets, I had passed him. though it was not easy, I had won the race to the bottom of the canyon and I had preserved the proud tradition of another of America's best bikes.

I will always remember that moment. I don't think I've ever pedaled so hard in my life. And some of the credit must go to Schwinn, as well. They really make a great bicycle...

There is no difference.
The NONE on your permit is so that you can "conceal", as "CONCEALED" is stated on HIS.

I've been passed by bicycles - downhill, of course :-) - while riding my Gold Wing.

I help with various bicycle rides as a motorcycle marshall. Some of those bicyclists are crazier than I am! :-)

When I was living in Mass my LTC-A stated "all legal purposes". It used to be what you wrote on your application. Maybe that is what he put for the purposes of his permit.... What reason did you give? Plus if I remember correctly Hogwylde you live in Agawam. Little easier getting a "ALP" permit there than in Longhetto or Springfield...

And the only way you beat me was because I got caught up in a storm! :op

I live in Westfield but you have a good memory nonetheless!

When I was applying, they didn't ask me anything and nor did I fill any paper work out. I just sat at a table and the "records lady" said, "I'm just going to put Any and All Lawful Purposes". I said "fine", she fingerprinted me and I got my permit 30 days later.

Hope I didn't offend you with saying you were in Agawam. I know how territorial people are in WMass... LOL.....
Wow things have changed. I filled out three pages of information, provided character references, got fingerprinted, and then interviewed with an officer. I got my LTC in about a week after that. Did the same thing in 1993 when I got my first LTC. Back then there was no designation for magazine capacity.

No offense taken but if I lived in Feeding Hills and you said I lived in Agawam....there would be a throw down! (I never understood their mentality).

The only reason I can think of for having gotten it so easily is because I had a permit (class B) before that had expired and I brought that in for "clout". When she asked where I lived, worked, marital status, etc and realized that NOTHING had changed since 1997, she simply said I will get my permit soon.
