Gun show question...

Does anyone know if an out of state resident can purchase a hand gun at a gun show? I am an Ohio resident who is visiting in Florida. I know that I can't purchase a hand gun from a dealer in the state, but I was told that there is a gun show in town tomorrow and I am wondering if I should go with a mindset of possibly purchasing something if I find something I really like, or if I am unable to make a purchase due to may Ohio residency status. I am not planning to puchase a gun tomorrow, I am just wondering if I can if I find a really good deal.

The transaction would be the same as one with an internet gun store such as Bud's guns.
You pick out what you want, A long gun, or pistol. Pay for it.
The dealer (FFL) ships to a FFL near your home.
You go to the FFL near your home do the paper work, any state requirements. You now own a firearm.

Or:

You may be able to complete a private party transaction if the seller is not an FFL. That could get complicated with you being out of state, but possibly do able. Check the local laws carefully.

If you're a convicted felon all requirements are waived. The supreme court has ruled that any registration would be a violation of your right against self-incrimination. So the best advice would be to get convicted of a felony. Then you can buy with impunity.

Good luck at the show but don't get your hopes up. I don't even bother with them anymore since I've found out I can do much better online. Gun Shows are not the place to find the best prices anymore.

The person at the table selling firearms at very high prices most likely has an FFL. If he wants he can ship the firearm to another FFL
The person at the table is only interested in making a handsome profilt.
The only reason I will go to a gun show is to try and unload my browning buckmark to some poor soul for a nice price.
Great shooter, but you don't want to field strip one. It is worse then the ruger.

My purpose in going is to do some research and to get to handle the piece. My guess is that I will take notes, do some research on the pieces that feel best to me, and then ask my brother who is a Cleveland cop what sort of price he can get me through some of his contacts. With any luck, I could order it and have it ready for delivery by the time we get back from vacation in three weeks.

We are in Pensacola Beach. We are looking at the Gulf from two sides of the condo. Great view. This is our 8th year of coming to Pensacola Beach for the month of February. My Mom and Dad and my Mother-in-Love come down and we all rent separate condos in the same building. It is just a little bit of heaven for a month. I am leaving in just a few minutes to pick my sister up at the airport. They will be here for about ten days.
