Danger

Welcome to the hot and humid
Amazon
where the unusual is
no stranger
home of beautiful exotic birds
and plants
a hungry jaguar who’s name
is Danger

through the jungle he made
his way
when he caught a powerful
new scent
one beautiful, bright and
sunny day
to the edge of the jungle
he went

He heard a strange
new sound
Squawking “McDonald’s is over
here Jim”
When Seeing the rainbow
flying past
He was so excited with what
he found
He saw strange new creatures
moving fast
Oh what a beautiful
sight
With the over-powering
aroma
They would be quite a tasty
delight

Hey Superincess, I am pleased to see the response and support as well as a lot of good advise you have received from everyone. This is very fun to follow. I was at the range on Wednesday. I've got 400 rounds through this new M&P 40C and still not shooting they way I want. I promised myself I would not carry until I could maintain a six inch pattern. I've got it down to 8" so far at 10 yards. OK there were two shots that were at 10" and 12" I didn't count those as I still was in center of mass. But I have more practice to go. I want to be 100% certain that I am going to hit what I am aiming at. All of your friends here have agreed practice, practice, practice. There was one post I saw a week or two about a laser , when you were asking about the LC9. I don't agree that one needs to practice with a laser buttttt.....I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Laser Grip by Crimson Trace. More of a toy for now but my thought was that it would certainly be a good idea for low light and dark conditions. I fired one clip only, using the laser and Wow. 3" pattern rapid fire head shot. I was convinced. I don't want to shoot anyone but I am going to do everything that I can to make sure that I am prepared to hit my target and nothing else. My exact thought on the laser is that if the BG breaks into my house and he see's that red dot in the middle of his chest or right between his eyes he is probably going to be doing a lot of thinking and rather quickly at that. He'll have about three seconds. Hope he makes the right choice otherwise I will ruin his day. That is for sure! Dang, if your CCP is 11,000 out that means mine is about 10,500. Nothing happens fast here in Wake County, Yeh October.

Bill, are you saying 10,500- 11,000 permits for your county ?.......dam ....we just passed 40,000

Thanks Bill Amsden, I agree with you I don't wish to shoot anyone either. But the next person who pulls a stunt like the last guy. My surprise attack he will not see coming. I am glad you found a weapon you like.
Do you practice often??? The membership is the best deal in my opinion.

Thanks Rocketgeezer, your county has over 40,000?? I see your profile says Knox. TN. Are you in Knoxville??? I will research it and see what I find out.

Hey everyone, a customer told me this evening. They (the police) had caught the guy. He said it was the
firefighter from Durhan and they are accusing him of several robberies. But I just now researched it online and have a feeling he may not be the one. Some of the facts in the other robberies don't match. Even if he is the one, there is always another badguy to take his place. They multiply like roaches.

Put another 150 down range yesterday with my Bersa Thunder .380... had a box of Blazer ammo and found out it does not like Blazer, must be the aluminum case on the round. had 2 failures to feed. No more Blazer, but it shot everything else well especially my Hornady Critical Defense ammo, the Bersa likes that stuff.

:dance3:

Wise choice, I really like the Hornady XTP

Yes, at least thats what the news said, only area in TN with more permits per capita is the Memphis area, not sure but I sort of beleive it because out of almost 30 people at my shop, probably half have permits, and the number of places around here doing CCW class's is at lot, one local shop/range we go to, does 2 class a week with 25 -35 people in each class, and I know there is at least 8 or 10 places around town that do class's some do one class a month, some do one a week a couple do two a week, whats nice about it is for that many permit holders out there, there is relativly few incidents

Actually as of Saturday according to a web site from one of our local news stations there is 19,1xx. CC permit holders in our county. I expect that to climb though. Quite honestly I have no doubt that number is going to increase.

Thanks Rocketgeezer, The ccw class I attended had 13 people, and half of them were women. It seems like the more ccwp they issue and announce on the national news, the more the crime rate would go down. Does this sound like a reasonable assumption???

I have been trying to go to the range every couple of weeks if I have the time and shoot 100 rounds each visit, I have seen noticeable improvement each time. Two weeks ago I was there and was in lane 7, the AC vent was blowing the target left to right by as much as three or four inches, I started to get PO'd but then thought I would try the moving target. I actually did well . I have found some fairly good deals on ammo in the last month so I have a small stock pile and keep a couple boxes in my brief case along with my intended carry pistol and have 400 rounds in my gun safe. I'm going to continue practicing with the .40 until the CCP comes but plan on getting something different and a little cheaper to shoot for target practice. I am actually thinking about a .357 revolver so I can use .38's for target practice. although I haven't decided on a model as I would still want something I could carry and conceal. I like the revolvers and are much easier to clean than semi auto's. I'll probably go to the gun show next month and see what kind of deals they have.

Did the Girls out shoot the men? They usually do as they make better students.

Thanks Bill Amsden, I saw the video from wral, they also have on their site a ccwp map, which if you type in the road address you live on. The site will pull up how many ccwps are on the street. If all 11,000 applications are appoved, then the total of ccwp holders will jump from appoximately 19,144 to over 31,000, this is a big increase in a few months. I believe most of this is due to the bad economy.

I am not sure because we were in two groups, I was in the first group and one other girl who I made friends with, we are going to the Dixie gunshow next month. She used the 9mm, it was probaby the same one rented to me previously, she said there was a failure to feed twice.

Thanks Bill, I hope you find one you really like. My friend I met at the ccwp class said the 22 would probably be the least expensive to practice with. I remember when you were at the range, it sounded like you were shooting a cannon. :) Seriously I had thought about leaving and coming back later. The guy on the other side of me must of had a cannon also. This means when I go back I will have double the ear protection.

Hey Princess.....Don't let the noise intimidate you, my gun I thought may be a little heavy for me at first but it is a well balanced gun so it handles the recoil well and some what simple to handle. It actually is a nice shooting gun for me anyways. I thought for an instant that my inaccuracies in the beginning were from others distracting me, and then blamed it on my glasses, oh yeh and then the lighting at the range. All I needed was practice and getting used to it. As I have said previous I still need more practice.

No one at the range really cares what others are doing on the lanes unless they are unsafe or they are newbees like you and me. Hell the last time I was there there were two guys rapid firing large caliber pistols and were hitting bulls eyes every time at the same distance I was shooting and one clip I used the laser. They actually saved me thirty bucks because I said screw this and refused to shoot the extra box of shells I had. Some of those guys in there are awesome shooters.

we're not in there for competition shooting right now, just learning to handle, control and fire our hand guns safely and accurately for home and self defense.

If a .22 works for you then do it...As you get more comfortable and accurate you can always get something in a larger caliber if you choose.

Thanks Bill, why are the lights turned down low??? On their website the picture is well-lit. The 22 seems
to be the best for me to practice with, it is very easy to handle.

In a contest between 10 guys and 10 girls, of ineperianced shooters, the girls will outshoot the guys, my 15 year old grandaughter, who has been shooting about 6 months, is very good with handguns or rifles, in fact I have to really knuckle down and try to do as good, as least on stationary targets, but even on the moving or combat stuff she does good, that will come with experiance, this is not always true, I know a couple of women that the only thing safe from being hit at the range is the target, of course theres a couple of guys that I would not go to the range with on a bet, but given proper training the girls do better

Mojave
In the Mojave desert, one extra hot
sunny day
there was a travelin’ man who lost
his way
he had walked for two days and
a night
his only companions were the birds
in flight
walking two days in the
blistering sun
with his only friend a stage coach
shot gun
to catch up with the thief who stole
his horse
this would be pretty tricky
of course
he had a score to settle and he would
not rest
this thief deserved a few bullets in
the chest
he would recognize the man in a
crowd of faces
late in the evening he came upon
an oasis
there was the man with his horse
and gold
so he yelled out loud
and bold
you messed with the wrong man
Big Sam
his friend only had two words to say
ka-bam ka-bam
