Time to obtain CC permit?

I notice in MS, the timeline is...

"Within forty five (45) days after the date of receipt of the items listed in subsection (5) of this section:
(i) Issue the license: or
(ii) Deny the application based solely on the ground that the applicant fails to meet the requirements."

How is this to be interpreted?

Is there anyway to check on the status of an application?

I applied on Jan 27. Do I just start checking the mail on March 13? Assuming I qualify?

I applied for the CCW permint in MS last year and within a 2 week time frame they mailed me a letter saying they were unable to process my application due to a paperwork detail. They gave me their phone number 601-987-1586 and their fax number 601-987-1547 with the mailing correspondence address:

After faxing the paprework they needed I recieved my permit with in 2 weeks of that time frame. I was thinking the time frame for the "Shall Issue" is 120 days after you apply but mine was within the 45 days you mentioned earlier. I called them everyday until they said my paperwork was corrected. They will talk to you and let you know your status has been my experience with them.

WooHoo!!! Just got off the phone with Sgt Williams.

Will be issued on (or around) March 12.

Congrats. I applied for mine on Mar 2nd, so I get to patiently wait for a few more weeks.
