Define "safe." No place on earth has zero risk. Police # irrelevant. I am responsible for my own safety.
6. Do you think you are more vulnerable because you are female? Have you or anyone you know ever been the victim of a crime? Did this influence you to purchase a firearm?
I'm more vulnerable than many others, but not just because I'm female. I'm also small, old, and have disabilities. I once had to shoot a man to save my life. The Man I Might Have Killed | The Price of Liberty And yes, that incident did influence my decision to buy a gun, but not for many years.

The absolute and inalienable right to self defense, by any means necessary, predates the "second amendment" by as long as human beings have existed. In fact, all living creatures have that right.
11. When exactly did you buy your first firearm? What kind of firearm was it and how many have you bought so far? What was the initial reason for you buying a firearm?
I don't see this as relevant. The kind or number of guns I own is nobody else's business... ever.
Wolf, I admit I had a bad feeling about the post because of geography as well. I made a tongue-in-cheek comment about finding more victims at the cornered cat website. My referral to victims wasn't about the abuse that many women have endured, before they purchased a firearm there, but my suspicion that the women would be vilified for owning guns, as part of a pro gun control agenda.I hope my response isn't taken as cynicism, but more as a "be on your guard" statement.
First, we don't know this person from Adam. Second, the student claims to be from a NY state run college (SUNY), one of the most anti-gun states in the country. Third, it's a sociological survey and I have seen nothing good from sociological data mining for the firearm community.
Nothing personal student88, it's just that there have been a tremendous amount of anti-firearm types that have posed under false personae within these forums and it has caused the hair on the back of my neck to be raised.
