I am a retired police officer living in florida.am i required to attend classes for my permit or am i waivered if so where do i go to get my paperwork. Hairman

YES, get your retired ID card showing retirement and contact a local Sheriffs Dept. Most would accommodate you. The only problem is you can only carry what you qualify with. Make sure you have a copy of the qualification with you and your retired iD card. We put a sticker on the back of our ID card showing weapon, qualification date and signature/initials of the instructor. You are covered under HR218. CWPs are nice, but this is better, much better.
