It is possible that the following bills will be voted on today:

SB 789/790 - CPL reform:

Summary:

* Abolish county concealed weapon licensing boards.
* Transfer the duties of the county boards to county clerks with some duties going to the courts.
* Require the MSP to conduct investigations of CPL applicants as to eligibility.
* Give civil immunity to clerks and law enforcement entities if a CPL holder later commits a crime or negligent act.
* Allow an applicant for a CPL renewal to certify that he or she has completed educational and firing range requirements (and the county clerk could not otherwise require verification of the statements in the certification).
* Decrease license and renewal fees (from $105 to $90).
* Require each county to establish a concealed pistol licensing fund.
* Allow county clerks to take fingerprints of applicants.
* Establish a hearing process for suspensions and revocations.
* Allow the subject of a PPO for domestic violence or stalking to receive a CPL unless the order includes a restriction that the applicant is not allowed to purchase or possess a firearm.
* Change Michigan's OBLIGATION TO IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY police regarding our carry status upon being stopped to a RESPONSIBILITY TO DISCLOSE UPON REQUEST.

SB 964, 965, 966 and 979, the Senate components to the Air Gun Reclassification Package, reclassifies them as pneumatic guns instead of firearms. We will once again be able to order them online or buy them in the local hardware store without jumping through any hoops. Michigan is only one of TWO states that has these ridiculous restrictions on pellet guns. The most ridiculous restriction? Currently you HAVE to have either a pistol purchase permit or a CPL in order to buy a pellet pistol with a rifled barrel. These bills will do away with that.

SB 977, allowing active duty service personnel to renew their CPL via US mail.

Contact your representatives (NOT senators - these bills already passed in the senate) TODAY and urge them to vote for these bills!

I don't know, I just read the bill. Nothing appears to have changed regarding disclosure from what I read.
Cite please?

This is from the House Fiscal Agency analysis of 789/90:

Violations of act

A CPL holder who is stopped by a peace officer would have to disclose if a pistol or a personal Taser was concealed upon his or her person or in the vehicle upon request by that peace officer instead of immediately upon being stopped. Failure to do so is a state civil infraction that can result in suspension or revocation of the CPL. If the court determines the license is to be suspended or revoked, the court must notify the county clerk that issued the license to do so. The county clerk must then notify the MSP and the MSP must immediately enter the suspension or revocation into LEIN.

It appears that this may be from a House substitute for the original senate bill, Michigan Legislature - Senate Bill 0789 (2014)

Hope this makes it through. Just heard on the news they're scrambling to get this stuff done. But no word on this specific bill as of 5PM.

After the way the original bill was butchered, I REALLY hope he doesn't sign it.

We loose much more then we gain here.
