Play On Handgun Slides?

Just out of curiosity, is it normal for the slide on a semi-auto to have a little bit if side to side play or looseness? Not much but just randomly noticed it earlier.

They do have a very little side to side movement. If it didn't and you shot a lot of rounds as in competition shooting, the gun could lock up from the heat expanding the metal. Loose is reliable and tight shoots tight groups.
