Depends. How many NASCAR fans are there and do they like guns? I think it may actually help the cause. I know quite a few NASCAR fans and they are not especially political, but perhaps this might help.
Good for the NRA and Nascar. Liberals don't like Nascar anyway so what does it matter what they think. Way too many conservatives and red necks follow Nascar.
