New Hunter - How Do I Qualify?

Hi. I'm new to this forum and I live in New York City. I joined a social group that likes to go hunting. They like hunting spots in Connecticut. I have no experience with hunting and no experience with guns. Actually, I'm afraid of guns, but would like to learn how to hunt. If I live in New York but want to hunt in Connecticut, do I buy the gun in Connecticut or New York? Also, what would the procedures be in Connecticut? BTW, I'm 48 years old, female, own my own company, no felonies, etc.

Welcome to the forum. Suggest you consult the people in this "social group that likes to go hunting" in Connecticut, or at least an instructor in your area familiar with your states' laws. That is, if that's why you are really here...
