Local Firearm Ordinances

Hello,

I am a CCW holder (Illinois) and travel every Christmas up to Lombard (near Cook County) to visit my in-laws. Is there a convenient listing of local ordinances somewhere that would give us a "heads up" when traveling in unfamiliar territory?

Thanks in advance for your time,

sanddan

Happy New Year All!

Lombard is in DuPage County. It is more like the rest of the state than Cook.
The Illinois State Police site lists gun ordinance for various municipalities. Lombard has no unusual ones.

You can also post your question at the Illinois Carry site. People are glad to provide what information they have. It is monitored. Personal opinions and facts are shared. Personal attacks are discouraged.

Another good source is the Posted! App. You can search for posted businesses by name or location. It is available for iphones and droids. It can also be accessed on the Illinois Carry site.

I live not to far from Lombard and use the range in Lombard for training sometimes. Having said that, as a Concealed Licensee in Illinois, Illinois state has pre-emption of all firearm laws, specifically as it pertains to concealed carry. Therefore if you have your license and you are carrying or transporting a hand gun you really have nothing to worry about. Then there is the pesky cook county assault weapons ban which has never been enforced, but you are going to DuPage county so have nothing to worry about there.

The list of ordinances on the Illinois state police website is outdated at best and truthfully is incomplete. I honestly wouldn't trust it.

Illinois Carry is a very good resource, I visit frequently. While personal attacks are discouraged I have seen many a person get hazed for foolish comments :)
