This is a very frustrating article. I am a gun owner & concealed carrier, and would gladly defend my neighbor if needed, so how is that going against Jesus? The majority of gun owners that do things legally are not the mass murders so I don't understand why everyone wants more laws. Thats not going to change anything.
tractor_babe, this article should frustrate you, if you are a Christian gun owner. You must understand that this article has nothing to do with Jesus Christ, nor is it directed towards gun owners. It is to further separate those of us who "cling to our guns or our religion" from those who voted for Obama, to prepare them for the future attacks on the Second Amendment.
If someone doesn't believe in gun ownership, or doesn't care about Second Amendment rights, it won't be hard to convince them that Jesus would be against guns.
The Christian church is becoming very divided, both nationally and internationally. On the one hand you have the traditional church, preaching the Gospel, following the teachings of Paul, Peter, etc.
On the other hand you have churches that cater to the liberal/progressive/socialist Christian. Churches that "marry" gays, churches that preach "liberation theology", "collective salvation", and other beliefs that are opposed to the traditional interpretations of Christ's teachings. Reverend Jeremiah Wright's United Church of Christ is an example of this. Rev. Wright teaches "black liberation theology", a belief shared by the Nation of Islam. Basically, they believe that Jesus was a "community organizer", and his entire ministry was based on race.
President Obama stated in an interview that he believes in "collective salvation". Without going into great detail, it is a socialist version of Christianity, opposed to the traditional belief, where one's personal relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, is the only way to eternal salvation.
This article was written by someone who would welcome that split, trying to further separate progressives from traditional Christians.
Satan also welcomes that split.
