AF has been trying to kill them for a long time but Congress keeps blocking that idea. The troops on the ground could care less about the F-35 being its replacement because they know it won't do what an A-10 can do. Might be time to fold the AF back into the Army so they'd learn what their job is.

Yes, the boys in the Pentagon need to buy new toys to reward their friends, troops on the ground be damned. Why stick with the A10 when you an get an F35 that is not designed for that job for only ten times the price! Same rationale that got us the bloated, expensive, complex B1 that sits in hangars because the B52 works better.

When the last B-52 flies, the B-1s will already be cut up for scrap and the B-2s will be parked at AMARC. The B-52 and the A-10 have a lot in common as both of them can be loaded up with just about anything, take a licking and keep on ticking, and out of production for longer than some of their pilots are old.
i know the headline in the OP is supposed to scare Americans, but when I read it I thought, "Really, only 71 ISIS terrorists in the whole country?" I had previously thought they were here by the thousands just waiting for an order to do something. So... them saying they only have 71 is kinda reassuring. Heck, you guys who hang out in here could probably take care of 71 with no problem at all ! :dirol:

Hell, the F-35 can't even do what an F-35 is SUPPOSED to do.
The last time I heard, the Marine(?) version won't even be able to fire its onboard gun... for YEARS.

A big part of terrorism is to keep us afraid, even when nothing happens. And, of course, our politicians use that fear to make us give up freedoms for security. Anyway, like i said - before I saw this I thought they had thousands of them over here and not just 71. And so, hearing them say they only have 71 makes me less afraid and not more.
