Home defense shotgun regulations.

What is the regulation on taking the plug out of a shotgun or adding an extended magazine? I have seen several posts about people using shotguns, as home defense tools, with expanded capacity.
I was always taught 3 shells is the limit. Is this only if you are hunting?

3 shell limit for hunting is correct. Take the plug out for home defense. If you go hunting, put the plug back in. Game Wardens will check for a magazine plug.

For a dedicated HD shotgun, get an extension tube. If they're worth one, they're worth two or more. Ammunition is cheap compared to life.
