Gun-control group calls Kansas laws 'craziest' in US
The Associated Press

WICHITA | A national gun-control group has named Kansas as one of four states to receive its "Craziest Gun Laws" award because of a new measure the organization says allows guns in the state's schools.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence issued its annual ranking of gun laws earlier this month. Kansas, Virginia, Utah and Florida received the group's "Craziest Gun Laws" award.

The Wichita Eagle reports state and local officials say a bill signed by Gov. Sam Brownback last month clarifies Kansas law, but doesn't change it.

The new measure prevents concealed-carry permit holders from taking guns into any building that posts no-gun signs on its doors.

The Brady group says that might allow guns inside schools that don't post the signs.

The Kansas law says that carrying in schools, churches etc. is prohibited as long as its posted according to the law. Even if it is posted properly and you are caught carrying there (which you shouldn't be because its concealed) its a $50 fine. Missouri law is just as "crazy" really stating that if you are caught carrying into a prohibited place, it is not a criminal violation but you may be asked to leave. If you don't leave and police are summoned, it is still not a criminal violation but a $100 fine. Bottom line is concealed carry holders aren't the ones to worry about. Its been said time and time again but criminals aren't going to follow the posted signs.

As far as I am concerned, keeping lawful gun owners from carrying in schools is STUPID!!!!! Do you think the bad guys are going to leave their gun in the car when they went there to cause harm??? I DON'T GET IT. Criminals are called criminals because they DISOBEY LAWS!!

As far as I am concerned, if the Brady bunch is down on them, the state of Kansas is doing things right.
