Looking at the 512 or 517 which one is better than the other? Mounting to stag model three ar15

I have the 511 slightly smaller than the 512 but same features. The big thing you will need to figure out is wether you are going to add a magnifier to it as the only difference is the location of the controls. They're Great sights, wish I had bought an Acog though. Either one you go with you will be happy.

I have the 512 and I have no complaints, the buttons are on the back which I guess could be annoying but it doesn't bother me. If you are planning on getting a magnifier I guess you might want to go with the 517.

I just bought the XPS3-4. So new I havent had a chnace to sight it in. You do need a magnifier for this one and a riser. I bought a Lucid 2-5x magnifier but bought a crappy flip to side mount.

After mounting the sight I do like it but I will see how well it does the next time I go shooting.
