CCW size and caliber compromise practical, and if so, what?

I have a CCW permit for a Ruger SP101 357. I like the gun but for CCW it is a bit heavy and large (prints). I am new to handguns and although I don't intend to carry concealed a great deal, I am wondering if there is a light weight choice with a reasonable caliber that would be an acceptable compromise. I would be more likely to carry if the gun (pistol, I assume) was light but also recognize I should have a decent caliber as well. Is there a compromise re weight/size and caliber pistol that might work out here? Also, of course, it would need to be a "good" gun, i.e., reliable, and somewhat reasonable re cost. Again, all I know about handguns I learned from my CCW instructor and this forum. Advice appreciated.

Do a lot of research, some of the small mouse guns are very easy to conceal, some single stacks give more power and capacity but make it a little harder to conceal.

Thanks to all who posted advice re this. I will check out the guns you recommended for me and go from there.
