CCW and the TSA

In my state my CCW allows me to for go a back ground check on new gun that i'm buying. That honestly blew me away i moved out here 2 years ago. I have always lived in a state with a long waiting period on all guns sold. I asked why the CCW here allows me to to bypass the check and was told because the CCW has a very detailed histry ran on me, so if I pass that search why should the state tie up the system when i buy a new gun. OK that makes total sence to me. So shouldn't the TSA look at that and let me surpass the check at the airport? i have had a background check done on me to say i'm not a bad guy! So why does the TSA look at everyone like they are a bad guy?

Just curious what you guys think? oh by the way have any of you seen the video of the Tsa agent doing a full pat down search on a 6 year old girl? It is a truly sad thing to watch!

Because what you are proposing would make entirely too much sense. I have been advocating a "trusted traveler" program for a decade or more. The program would provide security exceptions to:
1. Law Enforcement
2. Active duty military
3. Holders of state issued CCW and other firearms permits (in Florida we have to go through a fingerprint check to get the CCW)
4. Frequent travelers at some level of mileage based on airline figures (what are the odds that someone who flies 50,000 miles a year is going to do something)
and a few other categories.

Doing this would allow us to make the haystack smaller and make finding the needle a whole lot easier.

Then I realized that the security theater has nothing to do with security and every thing to do with control. The TSA is not about security, they are part of the long term trend toward the police state.

I feel the same way about when I fly in uniform, under my military id....every time i have done so i have always been searched.

last time, i made a huge deal over it- i had just come of a secure govt aircraft in a secure terminal....

I'm ok with them doing pat-downs. I have seen trouble in an airport (turned out to be nothing, thank God) and I don't want to be on the plane that blows up. I'm originally from NY- enough said?

Right after 9/11 my National Guard unit got mobilized to guard airports. Obvioulsy we were carrying M16s in the secure area of the airport. One day one of the screeners (Don't think they were TSA yet) noticed that one of our guys had a Buck knife on his webgear and pitched a fit because it wasn't allowed in the secure area. The guy was allowed to leave it w/ the SOG but talk about stupid

TSA do NOT need to touch my privates.Thus i will not let them.

They are NOT "just doing their jobs", if they were, they would be apprehending REAL threats, rather than Grannis's knitting needles and feeling the crotch of a poor six year old.

I have adopted a policy that will truly help things go smoother for those who DO fly... I won't. No lines for me, and shorter lines for everyone else. Until these perverts and powermongers are put in their place (at the back end of the welfare lines, NO pensions for early-out) I won't let those goons near me. And no, I'm NOT paranoid. I'm simply voting with my wallet, and my feet. If I have to fly internationally, I'll drive up to Vancouver BC and board from there. Or, if Texas actually manages to pass their "bell the cat" laws and banish TSA's pornogames from that state, I may well consider flying out from there. But, how to get back home...... now THAT is an issue.....

Trust you with a loaded M-16 but not a knife. Typical of the TSA mentality too.

And as it was pointed out I was being sarcastic. So many were saying just go along with the police stepping over your rights cause they are just doing their job and it will go a lot smoother if you just go along with it. So I thought why not post it here. But thanks for taking the time to point out those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

To everyone: I was making an arrest and one partner wasn't willing to touch someones 'junk'. Someone else touched his junk and found a gun. It could have been a bomb or lethal chemical just as easily. I'm sorry, but everyone has the same biological 'bits and pieces' as everyone else.If that's all they need to do to ensure my safety, then touch my 'junk' all day, I don't care. If I'm not doing anything wrong, who cares? What do you think happens when you are detained or arrested?
Nobody wants to be killed in the next terrorist action- not even me. Is it better to get blown up or touched? Gee, touched or killed...the great dilemma...hmmmmm....
Put your testosterone away for a minute and think about priorities. If you don't want to be touched, then drive, take a train, or walk to your next vacation. I know people who do that...

My answer to all of this is just do not fly anymore. Seriously, if Americans would only fly or drive a car WHEN WE ABSOULUTELY HAD TO, then I think the TSA as well as the oil companies would reconsider all the BS they shove down our throats all the time. Hit them in the pocket book to make them cry "uncle" real quick.

As others have pointed out, there needs to be an express lane also for those who have clean gov't records. If the US gov't ( read FBI ) had had problems with me, they would have known a long time ago. As many miles as I've had in the air at gov't expense or going to a gov't location. But it doesn't bother me as I can't fly anymore anyhow. And TSA does want to start screenings of passengers on ground transportation also. TSA never has caught anyone and is just on a power trip.

Added note, the Feds also have my truck's and trailer's tags in their files too.

This entire issue has nothing to do with being a liberal or conservative issue -- it's a human rights issue. When this entire fiasco started, I wrote numerous letters to DHS and Congress asking for action to be taken -- I never got any reply. I think any of us would jump to action if we saw something like this happening to our loved ones in our own homes or in any public place. The least we can do is keep the pressure up on our leaders. Offer alternative solutions, get the word out, keep pushing for positive change or nothing will be done. Many of us fly because we have to. I fear what TSA will do next once our real enemies find a way to breach the wonderful set of "security" measures we have put in place. I think it is a great idea to allow CWP holders to bypass security at airports. (Though the ignorant rabble will jump and say that guns are now being allowed on airplanes). CWPs already prove to society that the holder has passed a substantial background check in order for them to be issued. Though it makes me sad that a piece of paper or plastic could allow a person to be free from 4th Amendment violations.
