In Michigan it is already legal for a person who has a valid concealed carry permit (CPL) to openly carry a pistol in some of the PFZs where it is illegal to conceal carry even if a person has a concealed carry permit.

Bill SB0059 is out of committee and is headed to the Senate floor. It looks like it might be on the agenda this month. They made a change in the effective date to January 2013, so I'm hoping that it will make it through the Senate then House and on to the Governor for signing by the end of this year. Contact your Senator in Michigan and let them know your stand on the bill.
