Big problem with reciprocity

It appears that SC does not have a way to verify CWP's 24/7. Now why they need to be verified and what is involved I don't know. However because of that VA has dropped SC as a state that they recognize. This came up when SC offere reciprocity to VA and they started checking the requirements. This prompted VA to check several other states and VA also dropped them. On top of that NV has dropped VA.

This is bad as our CWP's are no longer recognized in VA and it appears that reciprocity with NV is out. This is not due to the new law but rather other states requirements. Hang on for a rough ride.

Interesting thing is that even if the original law of recognition of all states had passed this would not done any good and have permitted carry in VA.

Thanks for the link. This is the only explanation I've seen that explains what happened. They also dumpped TN from their list.

Looks like this missunderstanding is beeing resolved.
SC Grass roots (Bill) has been in touch with and recieved confirmation that they are clearing this issue up.:moil:

That's the problem I have with Grassroots. They never update their site. Something like this should be on the main page. It hasn't been updated in months! Plus they did away with the forum. At least there you could ask questions and hope for an answer.

You think SC Grassroots is out of date, look at NC's. Hell, they are still talking about a dinner in the 90's and a machine gun shoot not too long after that. I went throug their site and sent a list with links to update much of what was there and nothing was done. Grassroots is a good idea but needs to be kept current. I know most are volunteer sites or organizations but accept what help is available and not be so demanding or picky of the help offered.:suicide2:

I do agree with that...they could use a better update progam ... but at least they are fighting for us.

Well, correct me if I am wrong, but I remember looking back when I traveled, and Virginia honored SC's permits, but SC never honored VA permits.... I think I'm right on this. I'm not sure of the whole situation going on right now.

You are correct until about a week ago and that is what has everyone upset. Hopefully they can get this sorted out so it will work both ways.

Yes we could go there, but they could not come here..

SC tried to gain complete Reciprocity w/ VA

VA looked into us and realized that the min requirements for their State were not met
so they told us no and removed us.

We the peoples of SC discovered that the “Govment” had faulted, and brought this to VA's attention. Now they are looking into it again.

Which leaves us most likely banned from VA until full reciprocity has been achieved
(instead of giving us the right back, while they work things out)

The website is designed for more general info... if you want to keep current on what's happening, sign up for the digests (general for non-members, leadership group for members). It's our primary method of communication.

Or you could volunteer to help out with keeping it up...

Well, all is not lost. At least SC residents who visit Virginia can open carry there with no permit. That's what I would do; after all, open carry is better than no carry at all.

I am signed up ... lot of chit chat, and such..
but it does not bring in the people like a wesite.
even a forum set-up

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think another thread shows

we are back on the VA list... I'll go check.

I just checked Florida and S.C. is listed!
