Some time back there was a rash of pizza delivery robberys, i part time in a gunshop and one of the dudes that delivered pizza come in the shop one day and bought a small S&W revolver he had a permit for years but never carryed, anyways he sees me there at the shop and got a little spooked, afraid i was going to say something, i said hell no in fact I gave him a smoken deal on the Smith, all the while hopeing he don't shoot nobody with it, well sure enough maybe 2 months later some moron knocked him down and pulled a knife while he was on a delivery, he pulls the smith, sticks in morons face, moron turns to run and jumped a retaining wall and fell 8 or 10 feet busted himself up pretty good, naturaly cops, ambulance show up, his store manager along with the distric manager was waiting for him when he got back to the store, fired him on the spot, and like a lot of people nowadays liveing paycheck to paycheck he was pretty much screwed, came in the shop wanting to sell the gun back, while there another one of my customers who runs 3 small sub shops in the area was there complaining about his help ripping him off, he had heared about the pizza guy from the news, and to make a long story a little shorter he hire's this guy right there, and he can carry his gun if he wants, and he's makeing more than he was at the pizza place, now this was not a kid he was in his early 40s with a family, I guess the moral here is it don't always turn out like crap, this guy lucked out

I voiced my complaint.

I will not do business with Autozone again. If I could find the CEO William C Rhodes III's email I'd let him know why I will not be doing business with them ever again.

I will not do business with Autozone again. If I could find the CEO William C Rhodes III's email I'd let him know why I will not be doing business with them ever again.

I went to Auto-Zone web site and e-mailed them. I told them that I would not shop there anymore. Most likely will not do any good but made me feel better.

The problem with using the website to contact someone, is that it will never get to someone who can make a change.. ie no one important. I need AutoZone's pr rep or CEO's email, they are the ones needed to be contacted.

AutoZone employee fired after scaring off ?Fake Beard Bandit? humbled by community support | WTKR.com ? Hampton Roads News & Weather from WTKR Television Newschannel 3

Job offers, money, even a trip to New York have been offered to Devin Mclean after he scared off a robber at AutoZone.
While he appreciates all of the attention, Devin still needs a job.
“All of the attention I’m getting from everybody is uplifting my spirits,” says McLean.
Thousands of people are showing their support for him.
“AutoZone’s way of saying thank you, “Hey, you’re going to be fired’ it kind of made me feel sketchy about what I did after all of this support, it makes me feel good. It lets me know I did the right thing, ” says McLean.
While his store manager was being held at gunpoint, the Air Force veteran ran outside to get his gun.
That scared off the fake beard bandit who is suspected in more than 30 robberies on the Peninsula.
“The initial training for the military instilled those core values. One is service before self, that kind of played a role in it, it kind of put my own life on the backburner for another man’s life,” says Mclean.
Now he’s humbled by the hundreds calling him a hero.
“I think anyone put into that situation would react the same way,” says Mclean.
AutoZone’s Facebook page is filled with comments about Devin.
The company tells NewsChannel 3 Devin will not be rehired because of a zero -tolerance policy for weapons inside stores.
“Working for AutoZone, I don’t think I could do it anymore looking at their morals and their values, obviously they are not valuing someone’s life,” says Mclean.
Out of work for more than a week, Devin is picking up odd jobs to provide for his soon-to-be growing family.

Sheriff says he plans to honor ?AutoZone Hero? for taking action against ?Fake Beard Bandit? | WTKR.com ? Hampton Roads News & Weather from WTKR Television Newschannel 3

The York County-Poquoson Sheriff is giving his 3 cents after a former AutoZone employee stopped the Fake Beard Bandit in his county.
Even the sheriff is calling Devin Mclean a hero.
“Devin was a brave young man,” he says.
“I mean, two people with guns, no shots fired and a robbery adverted is a good ending,” says Sheriff J.D. Diggs.
But not for Devin after AutoZone fired the Air Force veteran
They say he violated company policy.
While the AutoZone in York County was being robbed by the Fake Beard Bandit, Devin went to his car, got his gun and came back to confront the robber.
“I thought what a shame this guy has really gone above and beyond. I mean what else could you ask an employee to do for you?” says Diggs.
The sheriff is among thousands who believe AutoZone should review that policy.
Daniel posted on NewsChannel3′s Facebook page: “The employee was not breaking company policy until he feared for his own, and his manager’s safety. At that point, he left the store in order to save his boss’ life.”
On wtkr.com Doug wrote, “Shame on you for sticking to a corporate policy instead of making exceptions for heroic actions like this one.”
“Would he be wrong by not doing anything by taking no action? No, that’s an acceptable approach. I think that’s what AutoZone doesn’t understand. There’s more than one right answer,” says Diggs.
He’s even planning to honor Devin for taking action against this serial robber responsible for more than 30 robberies on the Peninsula over the last year.
“We plan on giving him an award, you know, a Sheriff’s Citizens Accommodation Award. We do that occasionally when a citizen does something above and beyond, and I think he stepped up,” says Diggs.

This is really disappointing. I shop a Autozone alot as they are the closest to me, I use their reward program, and I get a military discount. Looks like I may be driving a little farther and paying a little more for parts.
