Another 'good guy wins' story

Although I find it's rather odd that the first time this kid ever shoots a gun, he kills an intruder. Especially since he's going into the service and his dad's a cop. Good job though.

From the article: ... “It’s unfortunate that a life was taken, but at the same time, it’s very fortunate that this guy had a way to defend himself.”
.
The whole point of the 2nd amendment. Who can say what mayhem might have occurred had this young man not been armed? Good riddance to the perp.

It is an odd story. First take on quote from the father is "’ This is certainly not customary here,” Patmon said. Really don't ever remember anyone speaking like that especially in a tense, possibly life threating moment.
Next issue is that the father, as an LEO, has never taken his son shooting and trained him in some basics tools of life. Again, odd story but glad it turned out OK.

Never having gone shooting is one thing, but never having gone shooting and still having unhindered access to his father's firearm is another. Luckily the kid had a head on his shoulders and didn't mess with is until it was a life or death situation. I think the father needs a talking too though.
