Adjusting Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40SF?

Well I've got my scope zero-ed in to my rifle, and I took the screws out and put the "0" on the knob to the notch on the scale ring, but the scale rings have these little notches themselves that go 0,2,4,6 and have little lines that make a pyramid. Right now the knobs are sitting up around the 6, an I need them to adjust down to the 0. I can't see any way of doing this without turning the knobs all the way down to that point which would throw off the adjustment big time. How do I do this?
