I never gave even a passing thought to keeping a gun under my pillow. That's a suggestion from Hollywood, who would also have you believe you can catch a roadrunner by launching yourself down the road with a giant slingshot attached to a boulder. As for having a gun at the ready while in bed, there are many far more practical and less expensive ways to do it. And I'm not discounting the concept either. I'm just saying having a panel that drops a shotgun down with not much more than a tap from your knuckles is ridiculously impractical. A door with a stronger spring and a sturdier mount for the gun would be a much more attractive option, so the concept itself isn't flawed. It's just the way they had it set up in that clip that was pretty useless.
