In the old west everyone wore guns locked and loaded. Revolvers are mostly carried locked and loaded. Police carry locked and loaded. Military carry locked and loaded. CRIMINALS carry locked and loaded. When I carry either of my guns they are locked and loaded with safety off, first shot is a long trigger pull same as a revolver. If something happens I simply want to draw and get on target, every second saved gives you a better chance.

not quite right, while out in the country side that may have been true, in most towns and cities guns were not openly carried and sometimes it was required that the firearms be surrendered to the local sheriff

I think you might want to review the meaning of the term "locked and loaded".

I did that, googled locked and loaded, got several variations, I guess in the end it sounds right, personaly the only guns I have that I use the safety is the 1911s everything else is loaded, racked and ready to fire, I would not use it on the 1911s except a couple of them have triggers that are a bit to easy,

Not that I'd carry with the chamber unloaded to begin with but I bet if I pistol whipped you across the bridge of your nose you'd think twice about continuing to try to take my gun.

I carry 2 pistols also and both are chambered hot and safety on, because you never have the option to chamber a round and releasing the safety is simplier.

Or, you could just buy a Glock and the issue of the safety is resolved...point and shoot...the best safety is between your ears.
