Wanding at stadiums in Pittsburgh

Hi All,
I have been a CCW Permit holder in PA since 1984. I have sucsessfully used a firearm to save my butt three times. My question is this; let's say I were going to attend a Pirates game at PNC Park. I'm NOT allowed to carry in the park, so rather than leave my carry gun in my vehicle, I don't take it with me at all. On the way to the stadium, my family and I get robbed or worse. Since I had to leave my gun behind because of the stadiums rules, would/could they be held liable? Obviously if I were armed as I usually am when away from my home, the would be attack could have been prevented by the mere presence of a firearm as I have found out in the past. I realize this is probably more of a criminal attorney type question, but I was wondering if anyone reading this may have an answer.

Nope.. No liability on the stadium. You have the option to not attend..

That's the answer I figured I would get. I wonder though if this was ever argued in a court.

What's even more bullscat is that the stadium in question was paid for by taxpayer dollars. The stadium should be treated just as any other local or state park... not as a private business.

I also, called security at PNC on Friday since I was going to a game on Saturday. I asked them if I was LE would I too be subjected to the wanding rules or would I be able to carry. The official stance the person on the phone said they has was unless the officer is on an official detail at the park, then they cannot carry. Take this information for what it's worth. I personally am not giving an opinion; I was just seeing if they were having a double standard as I've seen other businesses do.

Now let's look at reality. Watch the people using the wands.... there was one security personnel that was wanding the non-strong side of the body. Really? If someone was carrying strong-side then it never would have shown up on their wand. Also, I had a bunch of change in one pocket, a steel chain attached to my wallet, and two metal pens in my chest pocket. None, I repeat none of these objects had the wand go off.

Here's what's scary... a criminal will realize that they can get their hardware past the security just by watching their lackadaisical attitude. It's the law-abiding citizen who will lock their hardware in their vehicle or leave it at home.

Now, if you were attacked in the ballpark without your piece and the BG had a handgun, then you will have a lawsuit.

Personally, I'm never supporting the Pirates again and I'm letting all my friends know why.

I agree! In general, to save money, I always park away from the place I am visiting. For example, the casino has free parking and is in close proximity to PNC Park. I don't relish the idea of walking back in the dark unarmed.

Next time you are thinking of going to a Pirates game, get in touch, we'll park in the casino and stay there instead. LOL
