Government corruption in SC

If it's not one thing it's another: Now SC has made the list of the "Second-most corrupt states" in the US!

It's fortunate that SC didn't make the top-10 most corrupt, but it's at the same level of corruption as NY, which has a long, distinguished history of corruption.

I wonder how that affects our 2A issues here?

The corruption here is the same as anywhere else. (Mostly done is the state's "liberal" areas by liberal politicians.) Fortunately, the vast majority of the state is still conservative. So, we have had some great strides in 2nd amendment issues recently.

yes, because lying to the state and using it's money to go bang your mistress in another country or to openly state that you will not allow unions into the state (which violates the state's constitution) are not corrupt either?

it's not a one sided issue. both parties do their share to screw up their respective areas.

Well, if it just says what it says because it's "written by a liberal organization run by young people", why would they put NY in the same corruption category as SC, and IL in the most corrupt? NY and IL are liberal states.

That article is based on a study, on which the first co-author is at the City University of Hong Kong.

Why would that person want to present these particular states as the most corrupt in a statistical study paper? Since the second author is from Indiana University and also "a liberal young person", why wouldn't they present CA - the liberal mecca - as the least corrupt?

In fact, if you conclude that this is false or biased, just because you conjecture that "it was written by a liberal organization run by young people", then you are more biased and prejudiced than they are.

If SC is a "conservative" state and obviously run by relatively "old people", what follows is that most of the corruption here is perpetrated by "a conservative organization, run by old people". :lol:

Corruption is definitely not the same everywhere, and I am not sure that SC is really so "conservative". In Myrtle Beach, for example, the sales tax on a cup of coffee is higher than in NYC last I checked, and that's after MB reduced it by 1% recently.
The city of MB runs 3 huge public gym complexes at taxpayer expense, competing and taking business away from private gyms. Sounds more socialist than "conservative" to me, and that's far from the big cities.

I guess it's kind of "conservative" (or fascist) that since 2006 SC police has received more armored personnel carriers, than CA or NY or the neighboring NC and GA.

Why do they need so many or any with comparatively so little population here?

Makes me wonder if that's all due to some kind of government corruption, and how the gun laws would be otherwise...

The MB area and the upstate in the Greenville area are the most liberal and progressive in our state. But, SC is still an agriculture state that is very heavily conservative. I know a lot of LEO's here and the vast majority of them are also conservative; so are the county sheriffs.

Around here, they may be quietly preparing for some type of civil unrest. But, you can be assured that it is to protect the citizens of our state.
