Do any of you own a rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches with a permanently affixed long flash hider that makes the barrel long enough that is isn't a legal SBR? If so could you please tell me why you chose to go this route? I see them advertised all the time and have never understood the allure.
Example: I see 11.5" AR-15 barrels with 5.5" flash hiders bringing the total length to 16"
I wanted a great flash hider and as short a barrel as I could get without a stamp for home defense. The result? A 14.5" barrel with a permanently pinned Phantom 1.5" flash hider.
The only thing I can think of with the other set up you mentioned is setting up for an extended WROL situation. A few seconds with a Dremel or a hacksaw and...
