Hi - new guy here. I posted this at another forum and thought I would add the information here too:

Today I received this info in a newsletter from Center Target Sports in Post Falls ID, which is between Spokane and Coeur d'Alene. If you have been interested in obtaining an OR CCW but were reluctant to take the training in Oregon, this might work for you. BTW they are an excellent training facility - their 8 hour, 1 day Utah CCW class is WELL worth taking if you travel the western states. IMPORTANT: Oregon law still limits non-resident applications to residents of adjoining states!

We found out that Oregon only requires training by an NRA certified instructor (which Ed is). You can take your Idaho CCW certificate you received from us to Oregon to apply for a permit. You have to go to Oregon in person...it cannot be done by mail. We suggest you go to the Grant County Sheriff, Glen Palmer in Canyon City, OR. He will issue a permit with "proof" of training by an NRA instructor. His phone number is 541-575-1131, the cost is $50 to the S.O and $15 to the state. They do the pictures and prints there and you get your permit in about 2 weeks. You must call in advance to let them know you are coming. Also, the Grant County Sheriff's Office has an application that should be filled out before coming to the office. It is found at http://www.oregonfirearms.org/pdfs/grantcochlapp.pdf
The application comes up and can be printed. Remember this application is only for Grant County. (Thank you Larry for this info).

Our solution is to provide the training to our students in one class for one price. We have also decided not to change the price for this additional training. That's correct, you will pay the same course fee and your certificate will also be good for Oregon.

Montana RESIDENTS ONLY, this process will also work for you to get a Montana permit. Unfortunately Montana will not issue a non-resident permit. But for Montana residents who need to prove training, you can use our certificate.

If you have completed the Idaho class, the certificate you already possess satisfies the Oregon requirement.

If you have completed the Utah 8hr class and desire an Oregon CCW all you need to do is email Peggy@centertargetsports.com and she will send you a certificate after verifying your previous successful completion of this class.

Hope this helps those of you who desire an Oregon permit...At least it will save you paying an additional necessary training fee. Be Safe...

From Wikipedia: CanyonCity is a city in Grant County, Oregon, United States. It is the county seat of GrantCounty, and is about a mile south of John Day on U.S. Highway 395. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 669.

Here is the main page for Center Target Sports:

I hope this helps those of you who travel armed.

EDIT: For those of you who don't know, Oregon, being a little strange, does not honor ANY other state's CCW, so the the only legal way to carry there (concealed, loaded and accessible) is to have their permit. Open carry IS legal in many places in Oregon, but most likely not where you want to go....

Also, the UT CCW is honored by these states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming, District of Columbia
