LEO Contact in Kansas City

Interesting story....I've read several stories and have seen several videos on how to inform a LEO that you are legally carrying a firearm. States vary in procedures I suppose. My instructor taught us that at least here in North Carolina the best way is to not mention a weapon at all, provide the LEO with your drivers licence when asked and make sure you give them your CC permit with your drivers licence. The officer will then ask if you are armed, and they may or may not ask that you surrender your weapon temporarily while the officer completes the business at hand. The officers are already on heightened alert when making a traffic and to mention this first could cause them to go into their defensive mode and secure the weapon and you before they know that you are legally carrying a weapon. Both ways make perfect sense. I would be intrested in seeing some input from more LEO's out there to get there input.
