Zimmerman Claim: Trayvon Put His Hand Over My Mouth, Went for My Gun

George Zimmerman reportedly told investigators that Trayvon Martin had forcefully put his hand over Zimmerman's mouth and went for his gun during the violent encounter.
Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump said that Zimmerman’s two claims -- that he was both screaming in the 911 call and that his mouth was covered -- don’t add up. “It’s either one or the other, it can’t be both,” Crump said.

Crump is an idiot i.m.h.o. Does he think that Zimmerman would not be doing anything & everything within his power to try and break free from someone forcibly covering his mouth??
Martin's hand clearly could have been both on & off of Zimmerman's mouth during the physical altercation.

Or maybe it was Martin who was doing anything and everything he could to break free from Zimmerman's attack....

hopefully the truth will come out during the trial
the media should just stfu until all is said and done as all the hearsay only serves to exacerbate the racism incite hate crimes and further divide the races ......the media hyped up this case painted false pictures and even made stuff up from the get go and perhaps doctored tapes as well from what some sources are saying wtf? the media needs to stop their bs and wait till real facts and truth is collaborated with evidence or at least a conclusion is drawn based on the preponderance of the evidence and circumstantial evidence carefully investigated

Or, if Zimmerman had stayed in his truck and not gone looking for trouble instead of avoiding it, I would not be reading any of this now.

I'm guessing you won't be contributing to his defense fund, then? :nono: Me neither.

What Happened to the Money Already Raised?

The week of April 23, we disclosed that the PayPal account Mr. Zimmerman had opened before his arrest collected approximately $204,000. That account has been closed, and approximately $150,000 of that money is being transferred to the new independently administered trust account. Approximately 3.5% of the money raised was consumed by PayPal fees. Of the balance $5,000 went to bond, a little more than $1,000 was put into telephone and commissary accounts at the jail. Much of the rest was used to address the considerable expense of closing existing financial obligations, attending to his security and secured transportation and setting up new, secure living quarters where he can safely await trial. Roughly a third of the balance remains liquid and in Mr. Zimmerman’s possession for living expenses for the next few months. So far, none of the funds have been applied to legal expenses.

Even though he was a fellow gun owner, we cant be quick to claim Zimmerman is a little angel who got mixed up in the wrong place at the wrong time and is completely innocent. Neither can we assume he is guilty. Of course the media doesnt understand this; they need to debate/shame him/ crucify him before the trial to attract viewers.

Just gotta let the jury decide.

Wouldn't the $5,000 bond money, $1,000 phone bills, and the cost to set up a secure location be considered legal expenses?

When do you pay your lawyer? Throughout the process? At the very end?

I have never had to hire a lawyer...so a little insight would be nice :)

Normally you pay a lawyer a retaining fee up front. That could be anything from $100 to $10,000+ depending on the case. That ensures they have enough hours already covered to get the case going. The retaining fee is also a deposit against a month's worth of work on the case. The client then usually pays the lawyer every month for the hours actually worked.

IMO Zimmerman's getting screwed. I don't much care for it when the government puts the screws to an individual due to political pressure that was gained through generating lies and manufacturing falsehoods. I don't give to many causes but keeping in mind the recent "AZ v Fish" and the "Duke" travesties I've donated to Zimmerman's defense fund.

Yup, for a civil matter a few years ago, we had to put $20,000 up front in an escrow account with the lawyer. When that dropped to $1,000, we had to put another $20,000 in, or they wouldn't continue working the case.

The escrow account is legally separate from both you and the lawyer, although it is administered by the lawyer. They deduct their fees from the account as accrued on a regular basis. (Ours did weekly, I've heard of others doing it monthly or even daily.)

If, at the end of the proceedings, there is any money left, you get it back.

^^^^^^^^^^ THIS

If he were guilty of Murder or Man Slaughter he would of been arrested at the time of the shooting. Just the fact that the media, New black panthers, parents ect. cried for him to be arrested makes me want him to be found not guilty. He will NEVER get a fair trial at this point. He will be found guilty just so that there are no riots, lawsuits, ect.

It really is a shame.

side note: I don't know if he is guilty of a crime or not. I wasn't there. I'm just saying that he wasn't arrested at the time so the LEO's didn't think that he was guilty.

Read the FL law and you'd see that without a thorough investigation, the law states one cannot be arrested if self defense is a possible defense. The original police report as released does list manslaughter on it.

I have a friend who is a criminal defense attorney, teaching justification of defense in some of my classes. He tells the class if they contact him for representation he charges a retainer of $15K and then $325 per hour after the retainer is used up. Expect to pay near $50K for a trial defense for homicide. Any balance after the inital retainer is due at the end of representation. He gets periodically stiffed on cases because people just can't pay. He doesn't chase them into poverty, but just forgives the balance.

There goes the retirement money, home equity or kids college funds.

That's why it is vitally important when we see a kid walking down the street with a convenience store bag in his hand we stay in our cars when we call 911.

Missed that fact about Travoyn carrying a convenience store bag, who reported that? Or are you just helping make stuff up?
