You Gotta Be Kidding Me

I 'concealed' carry into movie theatres all of the time and I have never had any problem whatsoever.
Just another reason why 'concealed' is better than 'exposed' imho.

Allowing the police to do whatever they want without recourse is better?

No, I did not say that did I ??
But this dude went looking for trouble it seems...

Anyone carrying an 'exposed' firearm into a crowded movie theater 'days' after a shooting massacre in a movie theatre is just not too bright imho. While I do support his 2nd Amendment Rights, I do believe that 'discretion' is always a good thing.

So there is a problem in that police department with police who don't uphold the constitution let alone their own state laws...and it's better to conceal it and ignore the problem as if it doesn't exist? I'm still not seeing the 'is better' part in this situation...concealing and letting the problem (the police) keep going is worse yeah?

I openly carried my firearm into the theatre near my home days after, the employees thanked me and said the owner wished more people carried into his theater. I've been reading about numerous theaters with this mindset, and I applaud them for the brightness.

Good for you,
but unfortunately, the movie theatre's in my neighborhood wouldn't be so 'understanding' if I was to open carry my Glock 27 into their establishments. That's why I prefer to carry 'concealed'...no fuss, no muss.

Mapes being arrested for possession of a weapon in a liquor and beer establishment
Yet they then turn around then claim he was arrested for
Technically, police said Mapes was arrested because he was carrying his weapon in a way that caused alarm and fear for others.
Seems to me they just can't make up their minds..

I can't blame the guy Thornton isn't the best of places in Denver nor the worst but still I don't blame him however I think it would've been best for him to carry concealed. Open carry out on the plains or in the woods/mountains but it makes people nervous in town especially fresh after an incident.

Thanks I love it here.

Exactly how would you know? You have open carried there? Any reference to them kicking out open carriers?

Depending on whether or not treo is right or desert is right will make a big difference.

If the man was legal, the police should be held accountable for their actions, one of the problems in this country on every level is that law enforcement is not held accountable for their actions. If police knew that there would be a price to pay if they violated someones civil rights or their human rights they would have a lot more respect fore the people they are paid to serve.

Just so everyone is clear, Thornton is an entirely different city than Denver. Denver has absolutely nothing to do with this thread and incident

I stand by my previous posts. The problem lies with the police, not the carrier, not the exposed gun, not the theater. Concealing it would not have helped anything but allowing the police to keep thinking they have the power to take away our rights.

Deserteagle is correct about the open carry rule. Thorton is not considered "Denver" and is in Adams county so state law applies to open carry there. Denver county has an exemption due to home rule and does not allow open carry, Saturday night specials, and assault weapons within its boundries.....

He who lets the fear of public opinion dictate not only how, when, where, why, but even IF he will exercise his rights.... is allowing other people to control his rights... and to control him.
