XDs Recall: Did you send yours in?

Just wondering how many of us sent in our XDs for the recall? If you did, have you learned anything lately about turnaround time?

I was told 8-12 weeks today. Also told they did not have a fix yet according to the Customer Service Rep.
Sux, big time. I sent mine in right away. Carrying the Springfield Champion 'til this disaster gets sorted.

It appears they wanted many XD-S sidearms off the streets with their recall, but the fix and return dates keep getting pushed back.

Still no fix? Not good news. This could turn into class-action litigation if SA keeps giving us the runaround on this issue.

Don't think I'll be buying any more SA products, when and if this debacle gets solved.

If they can't figure-out what the hell is wrong soon, they should refund purchase price on the sidearms.

The company has lost face with the handling of this recall. Inexcusable. YMMV.

I agree totally and have already consulted a lawyer. However, When i mentioned this on XDTalk I was bashed by all the "Big Shots" over there.

so if anyone plans on bashing me you will get ignored. ;)

I may be in the minority here, but issuing a voluntary recall for something that may cause an injury (especially due to an unintentional discharge) seems like a commendable stance and action for Springfield. Yes, it's frustrating to lose a firearm that for many is a great piece that has never given any issues, but I can count on more than one hand how many times I wish other companies and industries would take similar actions with their products.

I say kudos to Springfield, take your time, and return my XD-Ss in a better and safer condition than they were in before.

I haven't nor am I. A let's just say very seasoned Gunsmith went over it and was very perplexed about what they were looking far.He in no way was going against the recall but said if it was him he would at least wait and see how all this plays out.he polished a couple things and rounded another when I first purchased and have never had any issue.I hope things turn out right---I have always been a big fan and have stood up for them(springfield) more than once and I truly love my xds 45.it is and has been my everyday carry but if this turns into a big run around thing gets.political and there customers don't get taken care of like they should then I'm done.

I agree that "Speaking Up" and issuing a recall is and was the best thing to do. However, SA has done nothing for their customer but lie and deceive them through the whole recall process. They Intentionally, implicated that it would be an easy fix and they "Had A Fix" in the first place to get people to send the guns in. This was a tactic to cover "Their" own ass against any lawsuits with complete disregard of the customer. After the first wave of guns arrived and were logged in they then stated that they did "NOT" have a fix and they were pushing back the time frame to 10-14 weeks. This in my eyes is deceitful and is not OK in my book. So Kudos for them stepping up to the plate but not so on their lies and deceit.

NO need for me to send in my XD, I don't own one. Have yet to see a recall for a MIL-SPEC 1911A1. Does kinda tell ya something about a well proven platform. NOT saying anything, JUZZZ saying :>)

I agree with youe statement 100%. But a 1911 gets a little boring after awhile.
I shoot my 1911 about once a month. It is the only gun I NEED.
I buy different guns, because I can, not because I NEED them.

I am really amazed that the manufacturer can issue a recall and advise the consumers that there are very serious problems and have people ignore the recall notice. As for your highly experienced gunsmith buddy, you are very foolish if you think he can have a look inside your gun and spot potential failure points.

Yeah, and I will agree with you 100% but I think that what people are angry that those should have said that they didn't have a fix for it and if you don't send them in we want be responsible. First they said 30 days and now we've getting 8 to 12 weeks, which I'm alright with it but tell us up front whats going on.

When my Ruger LCP's went home for a recall, Ruger sent me a Ruger ball cap, free magazine and finger extension floor plates. They were only gone for 2 weeks. I'll be interested in seeing how SA steps up to the plate.

Well very nice to meet you rich kid. Number one don't judge me because I don't judge you.Number two rich kid not one time have I or did I IMPLY anyone else should do the same.Number three rich, yes.after 23yrs of doing business with him and knowing where he used to work yes I do(Im gonna leave it at that because I don't want him involved but I must say so far he has been spot on about the whole thing) and no he never once insinuated that I should take his word(last.time.I checked I'm allowed to do that) and again I never said anyone else should. After visiting with Springfield when all this began AND a little over 2800 rounds it was a choice and once again right or wrong IT is mine oh and by the way I've followed recalls in the past with different companies and was.satisfied with my choice. I've decided different this time for different reasons and what I know about MY firearm.Lastly I completely understand why you would question the choice that I made,SO MAYBE NEXT TIME TRY BEING CIVIL AND JUST ASK INSTEAD OF MAKING CUTE LITTLE BOY REMARKS. ok BUDDY.have a nice day

I am elated that you consider me your "buddy" but if you think that alters my opinion of your foolishness, you are wrong again. If you think that you or your gunsmith know more than the people that designed and built this gun, I think you have taken leave of your senses. Given the serious nature of the problems with this gun, it certainly shows a lack of responsibility and maturity on your part to ignore the recall.

If you don't want others to follow your lead, why did you make your decision public and vouch for the knowledge and skill of your gunsmith? I don't recall seeing engineer or metallurgist among his credentials. I think it's a biblical notion, although I don't have a citation, that the fool is always very proud of his foolishness.

Some people aren't smart enough to know how ignorant they are. Might that be you buddy? Have a nice day.
